Raze already knew the answer to the question based on the way everyone was reacting, including that of Liam.
He was expecting it, and unlike many others, he had lost those that he cared about many times before. However, it didn’t make the experience any easier, it just made one somewhat used to the pain.
After saying those words, Liam was shaking, his whole body was bracing itself for Raze to either hit him, or blast him away with some type of magic.
Right now, he wouldn’t even mind if his entire body had perished. Yet, Raze did no such thing.
“He protected both of you,” Raze answered. “He did so at the cost of his life right…that damned…that damned idiot.”
Looking at the ground, there was a smile on his face, as if he couldn’t believe the situation, or that someone like that would have done such a thing.
“Why didn’t you listen to my other order, I said to not die yourself either,” Raze mumbled to himself.
Unlike Ricktor though, Raze didn’t have anger at Liam, or Safa, or anyone else that was around. If anything the most anger was pointed toward himself.
‘I guess it’s true right what they say, you only realize how much you care about something until you lose it. I thought I had lost so much that I wouldn’t care about anything else, that it would solve my problems.’
It was why Raze took an approach to not get close to anyone, and he had always planned to do that in Pagna.
Yet it didn’t work out. No matter how much he tried to push people away, feel detached from them, he couldn’t help how he felt about particular people.
And this one had hurt.
“Can you take me to him, can you take me to where his body is?” Raze asked.
Liam wiped away his tears, surprised that Raze didn’t act angry, or he didn’t feel that strange dark presence that would often be around Raze when he was angered.
Nodding along, all of them had decided to head to the Neverfall Clan’s base where the body currently was.
Dame, Safa, Liam, Shay, and Raze were on the first floor of the Neverfall Clan. There were a few tables that had been placed out with bodies on it.
Just before Raze had arrived there was Han’s body, as well as the casket that Belil was in.
They had both been transported to the very bottom to be placed with the other clan leaders.
The current setup, was to have only clan heads buried at the very bottom of the Absyall base.
But the Elders and Han, had been given a special privilege to be buried in the ground as well. It was accepted by all of the Elders as well as Rayna and Fing who were making quick decisions based on the entire situation at hand.
Laid out on the table, Raze, Safa, Liam and Dame were looking at the body in front of them.
“I tried,” Safa finally spoke. “I tried using all my powers, I tried using everything I could including the Lux sword to heal him, but nothing would work, nothing would work.”
Based on the countless wounds that were on his body, Raze could understand why. He was beyond gone.
The amount of attacks he had taken with his body. It was telling a story itself for how long he had held on.
Lifting up his hand, Raze then touched the top of his stomach. He wasn’t doing anything special, he just wanted to feel Simyon’s body.
As he started to remember everything about the two. How when they had first met, he had found Simyon incredibly annoying.
The countless jokes he would tell, the number of times he couldn’t stop talking to him no matter how much of a lack of interest Raze showed.
Then he remembered the time where Simyon had even stopped Raze from going a step too far. From there, he remembered how Simyon had stuck with him through every step of the way while he was in this world.
“He was…” Raze spoke out. “He was the first true friend that I made in this world of Pagna…and I never got to really treat him as a friend…It’s like I thought. I’m not a good person, I’m really not a good person myself after all.”
“No,” Safa said. “It was us, it was us that said we could do it on our own. You wanted to stay and protect us, but we said we could do it…Raze…I just don’t know what to do. But I don’t want you to blame yourself.
“And the more I think about it, I don’t think Simyon would want you to as well. I don’t think Simyon would want you to think that his death is your fault.”
Liam had to agree with that. If anything it was their own weakness. How many times had Raze already saved them, pulled them out of the Darkness.
This was not Raze’s fault if it was anyone’s fault.
“The Deleter did this,” Liam said. “The Deleter mage did this, Alter were the ones that attacked us, and we had to do everything we could to defend ourselves…it was Alter.”
When Raze lifted his hand off, something had happened inside him. With the flow of memories with Simyon, and hearing Liam blame Alter.
Everything was building up in Raze. Alter, linked to the Grand Magus, everything linked back to them.
It was something that was continuing to chase him, continuing to haunt him, and it would never go away, until he did something to deal with it.
At that point and time, he felt it, his heart shattering once more. The flowing dark magic came out from his body.
And Liam, Safa and the others stepped away. Liam could feel it, it was the same intense feeling he felt come off from Raze several times before.
Immediately Raze reached out his hand, and he had grabbed the back of Shay’s head.
“Look at it!” Raze said as he pushed forcefully Shay’s head straight to Liam’s body. “Look at what you and your group did!
“Tell me now!” Raze said as with his other hand he emitted a Dark pulse. It shot out and went right through Shay’s foot. A visible hole could be seen through the top of her foot as it had gone through her boot and blood was seeping out.
“Tell me, where is the ALTER BASE!”
