Wen Ran’s eyes reflected a hint of confusion as she asked, puzzled, “Aunt Qin, do you want Qin Mu to return to A City right now?”
Mother Qin smiled, but her smile seemed somewhat unnatural. Hesitation flickered in her eyes as if she had made up her mind, she said, “Ranran, I won’t hide it from you. It’s because of you that Ah Mu is unwilling to go back to A City.”
Upon hearing these words, Wen Ran’s face slightly changed.
“Aunt Qin.”
“Ranran, Aunt Qin isn’t blaming you, just listen to me until the end,” Aunt Qin frowned slightly, a trace of sorrow appearing on her face. “Ranran, I only have this one son, Ah Mu. I used to think that his countless failed blind dates were because he hadn’t met the right one. But a few months ago, when he followed you and jumped off the cliff, hearing that news, I felt like I could have died.”
A pale hue that was unusual spread across Wen Ran’s fair and delicate cheeks.
...“While Ah Mu was unconscious, I heard him calling out your name. When he woke up, the first thing he wanted was to find you. That’s when I knew, he had fallen for you. Ranran, originally, I had selfishly thought, since Mo Xiuchen had lost his memory and was with that girl named Cheng Jia, there was no longer a possibility for you two,”
“But fate ties you and Mo Xiuchen together. Even though he lost his memory, he still came back to find you. I heard from Ah Mu that you and Mo Xiuchen are together now. Ranran, I just don’t want Ah Mu to fall too deep. If he goes back to A City to progress, maybe with time, he could let go of you and try to like another girl.”
Wen Ran lowered her head and said softly, “Aunt Qin, I’m sorry, I didn’t know before that Qin Mu felt that way about me…”
“Ranran, Aunt Qin isn’t blaming you, you are a good girl. Ah Mu has always been decisive. He never listens to his father or me, but I can see that he listens to your persuasion,” said Mother Qin.
At this point in the conversation, Wen Ran had no opportunity to find an excuse. She could only brace herself to reply, “Aunt Qin, I can’t promise anything, but I’ll try to persuade Qin Mu to return to A City.”
Upon hearing this, Mother Qin immediately beamed with a smile, “Ranran, as long as you speak up, Ah Mu will definitely listen.”
Wen Ran awkwardly twitched the corner of her mouth, “Aunt Qin, I’ll do my best.”

“Ranran, what did Aunt Qin say to you just now? Why do you look so troubled?”
As Bai Xiaoxiao and Wen Ran stepped into the elevator, her question followed suit. Wen Ran forced a smile and said faintly, “Aunt Qin asked me to help persuade Qin Mu to develop his future in A City.”
“Ah? Does Aunt Qin want to have grandchildren? She wants Qin Mu to go back to A City for a career and to have blind dates so she can have grandchildren sooner. But why did she ask you, Ranran? It couldn’t be that…”
Bai Xiaoxiao’s eyes started to turn as she suddenly exclaimed, “Ranran, does Qin Mu like… umph”
Wen Ran quickly covered Bai Xiaoxiao’s mouth and said with a frown, “Xiaoxiao, don’t be so loud.”
Qin Mu’s feelings for her were beyond her control; she couldn’t change them, nor could she ask Qin Mu to stop liking her. All she could do was keep her distance, not doing anything that might lead to misunderstandings.
If she could get him to go back to A City, maybe he really could let go sooner and start liking another girl.
Just now, Wen Ran had already told Mother Qin that she wouldn’t be going to City C and would stay in G City permanently. Even if Qin Mu didn’t return to A City, they wouldn’t see each other often.
Yet, it seemed Mother Qin was still not at ease.
When the elevator doors opened, Bai Xiaoxiao suddenly said, “Ranran, you go find Mo Xiuchen by yourself. I don’t want to go anymore, I want to go home.”
Wen Ran’s eyes flickered with a hint of surprise, and she quickly guessed Bai Xiaoxiao’s thoughts, “Xiaoxiao, do you not want to see Luo Haofeng?”
“Yeah, I don’t want to see him.” Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice was somewhat low, who said that one could be friends after a breakup? She found that she really couldn’t do it.
Every meeting was awkward.
“Xiaoxiao, okay, then drive slowly, and call me when you get home.” Wen Ran sighed inwardly, not wanting to force Xiaoxiao, nor did she want her to see Luo Haofeng and feel awkward.
When Wen Ran appeared in Gu Kai’s office, Luo Haofeng, seeing only her, looked past her towards the back, a flicker of disappointment flashed in his eyes, then he retracted his gaze and drained the remaining half-cup of coffee in one gulp.
Mo Xiuchen’s eyes gleamed with joy, and he immediately stood up to greet her, his deep-set eyes brimming with a gentle smile as his gaze settled on Wen Ran, “Ranran, why are you alone?”
From the sofa, Gu Kai’s eyebrows were lifted in a smile as he watched Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran; the corner of his eyes swept past Qin Mu beside him, just in time to catch the fleeting bitterness on his lips.
The bitterness at the corner of Qin Mu’s mouth was gone in a flash, and soon he put on a light, congratulatory smile, his gaze warm as he looked at Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran.
Wen Ran glanced at Luo Haofeng, who was sipping tea, and then swept her gaze past Qin Mu, who was wearing a smile, before answering Mo Xiuchen’s question, “Xiaoxiao was a bit tired and went home first.”
Mo Xiuchen looked back at Luo Haofeng and then asked, “Are you tired? If you’re tired, we can go home too.”
“Mo Xiuchen, I haven’t tried on the new clothes Ranran bought for me yet, what’s the rush?” Sitting on the sofa, Gu Kai immediately protested upon hearing this.
He suddenly missed the days when Mo Xiuchen hadn’t returned from D Country; apart from Ranran feeling a bit upset, he thought everything else was fine, at least, this man wouldn’t be occupying Ranran all the time and keeping them from getting close.
Wen Ran shook her head at Mo Xiuchen, walked to the sofa, and that’s when she saw the clothes she bought beside Gu Kai. Seeing her look over, Gu Kai immediately hooked his lips into a smile and said excitedly, “Ranran, you’re so good to your brother. Wait a moment, I will go try them on and show you.”
Wen Ran chuckled, “Brother, what about the one for Dad?”
“I asked Qing Feng to deliver it to Dad’s office, I heard he’s thrilled.”
Looking at Gu Kai, who was spirited and holding the clothes with a happy expression, Wen Ran felt warmth in her heart, and the smile in her eyes became even more radiant, “Bro, go try them on. If they don’t fit, I’ll take them back and exchange them.”
“They’ll fit, they’re definitely going to fit.”
Gu Kai hugged the clothes and walked briskly into the inner resting room like a child.
“Ranran, you’re so biased, only buying gifts for Ah Kai and Uncle Gu, not getting us any. Isn’t it supposed to be a gift for whoever’s present?”
Luo Haofeng teased with a smile, while Mo Xiuchen’s gaze rested gently on Wen Ran, believing that Ranran surely had also bought him a gift.
“Ah Kai is Ranran’s brother, Uncle Gu is Ranran’s father. Ah Feng, what do you have to complain about?” Qin Mu let out a muted statement, his long fingers unconsciously caressing the cup in front of him.
Luo Haofeng raised an eyebrow, “Really? So does Mo Xiuchen have a gift?”
“I am Ranran’s husband, what do you think?” Mo Xiuchen turned his head to look at Luo Haofeng, his expression proud and triumphant. Luo Haofeng immediately pointed out his shortcoming, “Mo Xiuchen, don’t be too smug. That’s in the past. Now, if you want to be Ranran’s husband, you need to make an effort to make Ranran agree to marry you.”
