FLASH MARRIAGE: HE IS A WIFE-PAMPERING ADDICT
Chapter 882: 881 forced their way into the officeChapter 882: 881 forced their way into the office
Mo Zixuan didn’t care about the disdain in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes, but instead, he scoffed mockingly, retorting, “Indeed, I don’t understand. However, someone who has lost their memory definitely wouldn’t understand more than I do.”
He knew that amnesia was Mo Xiuchen’s pain.
Just as Mo Xiuchen was about to say something, the intercom on the office desk rang. He moved his gaze, which was filled with cold intent, away from Mo Zixuan’s face and picked up the receiver to answer the call.
“President, Miss Li Yaqing, the editor-in-chief of **Weekly, insists on meeting with you?”
Hearing the request from the phone, Mo Xiuchen’s handsome face suddenly darkened, and he rejected without hesitation, “No.”
“But President, Miss Li is the daughter of President Li…”
The secretary’s voice was a bit timid, but before she could finish her words, Mo Xiuchen had already hung up the phone.
Less than a minute later, the sound of a woman’s voice and the secretary’s attempts to dissuade her came from outside. Hearing that voice, a flash of astonishment crossed Mo Zixuan’s eyes, and he said to the cold-faced Mo Xiuchen, “It’s Li Yaqing; how could she have come to the company?”
Before Mo Xiuchen could speak, the door to the office was pushed open, and the secretary explained anxiously, “President, Miss Li insisted on seeing you…”
“Mo General, I called you this morning to make an appointment. Don’t worry; I will only take a few minutes of your time, and then I’ll leave,” Li Yaqing said, ignoring the difficulty and panic of the secretary and striding into Mo Xiuchen’s office. Upon meeting Mo Xiuchen’s eyes, which were as icy as tempered ice, she felt a tremor in her heart and subconsciously straightened her spine, meeting his gaze head-on.
She knew that showing even a hint of cowardice would lead to her being thrown out by the man behind the desk and that there would be no second chance.
Mo Zixuan watched Li Yaqing with surprise, admiring the woman’s courage.
Mo Xiuchen remained silent, and didn’t even stand up, maintaining the same posture, lazily sitting in the swivel chair.
Yet, the chill that emanated from him bore down on the person across from him like an avalanche, unbearable to withstand.
Li Yaqing felt a moment of cowardice, her hand gripping the strap of her bag tightening silently, her grip growing firmer. She forced herself to meet Mo Xiuchen’s gaze and said word by word, “Mo General, I know it’s impolite to barge in like this, but I can guarantee that you won’t regret giving me a few minutes of your time.”
“Really?”
Mo Xiuchen’s deep eyes narrowed slightly, a sharp glint shooting forth from below, like an arrow, striking the approaching Li Yaqing, who stiffened slightly, her facial expression somewhat rigid.
His long pale fingers curved slightly, casually tapping the corner of the solid wood desk. Although it was just a brief two words, there was an inherent imperial authority in them.
Li Yaqing found it difficult to withstand the overwhelming pressure, but she was already standing in the office, with no opportunity to retreat. Most importantly, this man was the first to touch the heart of Li Yaqing, who was twenty-eight years old, and with her personality, she would never allow herself to be defeated without a fight.
She bit her lip, steeled her heart, and said confidently, “Yes!”
The secretary didn’t understand Mo Xiuchen’s intention and stood pale-faced at the door, not daring to make a sound.
Mo Zixuan’s gaze shifted between Li Yaqing and Mo Xiuchen, and he commented indifferently, “I’ll go back to my office. Call me if you need me.” With that, he didn’t wait for Mo Xiuchen to speak and left with long strides.
Seeing Mo Zixuan leave, the secretary began to sweat on her forehead, feeling as if the air in the office had suddenly become thin, her breathing slightly hurried.
In the office, Li Yaqing and Mo Xiuchen confronted each other in silence, the atmosphere indescribably eerie.
“Secretary Lin, see Miss Li out.”
Just when Li Yaqing thought Mo Xiuchen would agree to her proposal, Mo Xiuchen spoke coldly, his voice devoid of warmth, exuding an air of authority that was so chilling it sent shivers down one’s spine.
“Yes, President.”
Not daring to hesitate, Secretary Lin immediately stepped forward and said to Li Yaqing in a respectful yet stern manner, “Miss Li, please.”
The color drained from Li Yaqing’s face in shades of green and white. Having used up all her strength in her brief confrontation with Mo Xiuchen, she could only look at him incredulously; she was half-dragged out of the office by Secretary Lin without uttering a word.
It wasn’t until Secretary Li pressed her into the elevator that Li Yaqing fully came to her senses. She angrily shook off Secretary Lin and fixed her gaze firmly ahead toward Mo Xiuchen’s office, silently vowing to herself that she would return. Next time she would find Mo Xiuchen, and one day, she would make him her interview subject.
In the office, Mo Xiuchen let out a disdainful snort, casting Li Yaqing from his mind as he continued with his work.
An hour later, after he had finished his work, his cell phone rang just in time.
Mo Xiuchen, somewhat fatigued, raised a hand to press at his temples. He took out his phone unruffled and saw the caller ID, his eyes deepening. His long fingers pressed the answer button as he spoke indifferently, “Hello.”
“Young Master Mo, Cheng Jia is not at home.”
The call was from Qing Feng. Following Mo Xiuchen’s orders, he had gone to Cheng Jia’s apartment and, after some investigation, immediately reported the results to Mo Xiuchen.
“She went to the hospital this morning and hasn’t returned home yet?”
“Young Master Mo, to my knowledge, Cheng Jia hasn’t been home since the night before last.”
Upon hearing Qing Feng’s words, Mo Xiuchen’s penetrating gaze sharpened. The motion of massaging his temples paused, and he asked again with furrowed brows, “Cheng Jia hasn’t been home since the night before last?”
“Yes, that’s what the security guard in the residential area said. I also checked the surveillance footage, and indeed, she hasn’t returned.”
“Wait there for now, and have Qing Yang check if Cheng Jia has gone back to her parent’s home. Make sure to find her,” Mo Xiuchen instructed calmly.
“All right, Young Master Mo, I’ll have Qing Yang check Cheng Jia’s whereabouts immediately.”
Qing Feng did not dare to delay.
Mo Xiuchen uttered a confirming ‘hm’ and after giving a few more instructions hung up the phone.
He sifted through what Zixuan had said earlier in his mind and felt there must be some plot behind Mo Jingteng’s search for Cheng Jia.
Mo Jingteng had previous dealings with Cheng Jia that had infuriated him enough to land in the hospital twice, and now he was bedridden with a stroke, hardly able to speak clearly. Since he didn’t dare trust Zixuan, Cheng Jia became his best chess piece at this moment.
Unable to harm him directly, Cheng Jia could, however, do things that would hurt Ranran.
At this thought, Mo Xiuchen’s eyes turned ice-cold, his lips forming a firm, resolute line. After a moment of contemplation, he gathered his documents, rose from his seat, picked up his car keys, and strode out of the office.
Twenty minutes later, a black Aston appeared at the city hospital.
As the car door opened, Mo Xiuchen’s tall figure emerged from within, glanced up at the inpatient building of the hospital, a streak of ruthlessness passing through his deep eyes as he advanced towards the hospital entrance with long strides!
