What happened to Sirius? Why did Harry call his name? Did something unexpected happen?
Evan had no idea. In the blink of an eye, he traveled through time, and the room full of Order members and Death Eaters disappeared. Evan felt that he was flying, flying very fast, flying forward, with the tiny hummingbird always by his side.
Various blurry clouds and shapes passed before his eyes, and something pounded in his ears.
This feeling lasted for a long time. Just when he couldn’t tell the specific direction and location, he felt that his feet touched solid ground.
Everything was into focus again, the light in front of him was slightly dim, and the surroundings were silent.
The hummingbird flapped its wings and flew to the top of the crystal bell jar in front of Evan, also somewhat confused.
They were still in the Time Room of the Department of Mysteries, but the scene was very different from what Evan had seen before. There was nothing inside the crystal bell jar in front of him. It had been repaired and lost its power over time, becoming a simple decoration.
So…
Evan looked around, and the whole room was empty.
There were far fewer clocks and hourglasses than he had seen before, and the display case that held the Time-Turners was empty. So, that meant to say…
He hadn’t gone back to the past this time; he had come to the future, the future after the Battle of the Department of Mysteries!
“What have you done again?” Riddle appeared, “I sense a disturbance in magic. What is this place?”
“The Time Room in the Department of Mysteries of the Ministry of Magic,” Evan replied.
He looked down at the Time-Turner in his hand, but it showed no reaction.
According to his last experience, it would take some time for the magic power to dissipate before they could return.
“Of course this is the room, but what I just saw…”
“It’s time!” Evan interrupted. “This is not our time, we’re in the future!”
“The future?!” Riddle saw the Time-Turner in Evan’s hand. “You mean a few hours later…”
“I think it may be years or decades later,” said Evan. “Of course. It could also be hundreds of years.”
“Impossible, Time-Turners don’t have that much power.”
“This one does. The last time I used it, I went back to Hogwarts a thousand years ago!” Evan put the Time-Turner inside his robes. “As for the exact time now, we’ll know once we go out and check!”
If this really was the future, it would be far more valuable than the past. He had many things he wanted to confirm.
For example, the current state of the Wizarding World, whether Voldemort had been defeated, his own progress with Hermione, and how everyone was doing.
Also, Harry had just called out Sirius Black’s name. How was he now?
Evan cautiously checked the surrounding magic, not wanting to alert the Ministry of Magic and get caught.
What if a bunch of Aurors showed up? How would he explain that he had traveled through time?
And he couldn’t be certain what this future was like. If Voldemort were in control of the Ministry of Magic, that would be even more interesting!
After disabling an alarm spell, Evan opened the door leading to the black circular hall.
Outside, Evan saw a girl standing in the middle of the room, seemingly hesitating which door to choose.
When she saw Evan and Riddle coming out, she hurriedly took a step back and looked at them in surprise.
In fact, Evan and Riddle were definitely no less surprised than she was. They had never expected to meet anyone here.
The girl wore simple black robes, and she was petite and slender. She had long black hair tied back with a cord. In the dim, bluish light, her eyes shone with a lively glimmer. ṛåNǑᛒÊṦ
Her features were well-defined, with slightly upturned eyes that gave Evan a sense of familiarity, as if he had seen those eyes somewhere before.
Looking down, the girl’s thin nose bridge was quite straight, and the lines around her cheeks were also quite soft.
She appeared to be around Evan’s age, with a noticeable youthful air, tall and slim, and her frame looked very delicate.
If one had to describe her, she could be called a beautiful girl.
But Evan’s main focus wasn’t on that. The more he looked at her, the more familiar she seemed, much like Riddle next to him…
No doubt about it, they looked very similar!
“Who are you?”
“Who are you?”
They both asked simultaneously, pointing their wands at each other.
“Alright, you two don’t look like Ministry employees,” the girl said, raising an eyebrow.
“We…” Evan and Riddle’s appearance definitely had nothing to do with the staff of the Ministry of Magic, but the good news was that this girl who was about the same age as Evan definitely could not be from the Ministry of Magic. “Yes, we are not.”
“In that case, your purpose in breaking into the Department of Mysteries must be the same as mine,” her tone softened, and she seemed to be relieved, and then she noticed the room behind Evan. “Hey, this is the Time Room. I’ve been looking for this.”
Evan and Riddle stepped aside and let her enter; she seemed to be looking for something.
“She’s quite strange,” Riddle remarked. “She seems to be here to steal something.”
“It’s either a Time-Turner or a prophecy orb,” said Evan. Those were the most valuable items in the Time Room.
This girl was quite bold, but indeed a bit strange. How come she didn’t trigger any of the Department of Mysteries’ spells?
Or was it that at this time, any fourteen or fifteen-year-old wizard could casually break into the Ministry of Magic?
Such defenses were truly beyond what one would imagine.
“Evan, why don’t we be more direct?” Riddle whispered.
“What do you mean?”
“Knock her out, and then do whatever is necessary to get what you want from her. Don’t tell me you can’t do it.”
“I usually don’t do that to girls. I prefer to communicate first…”
“Falsehood, foolishness!” Riddle scoffed. “She is obviously a Dark witch. I can feel the traces of magic on her. Communicating with Dark witches—it’s a miracle you’ve survived this long.”
“Maybe, don’t you think she looks a lot like you?” Evan changed the topic and looked at the girl who was searching everywhere.
“What are you trying to say?”
“I mean, she might be your daughter, or she wouldn’t look like this, would she?” said Evan. “We don’t know what time we’re in. It could be many years in the future. It’s a plausible theory worth considering.”
“Absurd!” Riddle was furious. “You are insulting me, I…”
“I can’t see how leaving a trace of Slytherin bloodline becomes an insult?”
Admittedly, the topic was quite absurd, but the more Evan looked, the more he thought the two of them looked alike.
