Chapter 4704: Heavy

Gu Mo nodded in agreement, then glanced around the secluded area. “Let’s go rest over there!” he suggested.

So, the two walked to a more secluded spot where the beach was entirely deserted. Upon reaching it, they proceeded to set up two tents, preparing to spend the night there.

Just as they were in the midst of pitching their tents, several independent cultivators approached, settling down on the sand nearby. “Are you two independent cultivators as well?” one of them asked, his gaze assessing. “Are you also here for the treasure at the bottom of the sea?”

Luo Yu finished setting up his tent and looked over at the group of independent cultivators, who seemed intent on resting right beside them. He couldn’t help but frown. “This place is big enough,” he stated plainly. “Stay away from us and don’t disturb our rest.”

Their plan had been to enter the sea discreetly the following day, when fewer people would be around. They had specifically chosen the most remote part of the beach to avoid any disturbances or unwanted attention. They certainly hadn’t anticipated a few unruly loose cultivators showing up.

“Hehe, I didn’t expect you to have such a bad temper!” one of the loose cultivators sneered. Seeing that Luo Yu and Gu Mo didn’t answer their questions and seemed clearly annoyed by their presence, their expressions turned cold. It wasn’t entirely their fault for being oblivious; after all, both Luo Yu and Gu Mo were skillfully concealing their true strength. These few wandering cultivators weren’t particularly powerful themselves, so they couldn’t discern the true abilities of the two.

On the contrary, they mistakenly assumed Luo Yu and Gu Mo were just like them—fellow wandering cultivators who had heard the rumors and come to explore for treasures. They had initially intended to recruit the two into their own group, but instead of a favorable reception, they had been rebuffed, naturally causing their expressions to turn hostile.

Compared to Luo Yu’s somewhat blunt words, Gu Mo’s response was far more direct and unequivocal. He didn’t bother engaging in further conversation with the unwelcome group. Instead, he simply released a fraction of the immense pressure from his body. In an instant, the scattered cultivators, who moments ago had been standing with bravado, found themselves immobilized under the overwhelming force. They involuntarily crumpled to their knees, cold sweat beading on their foreheads, their faces paling dramatically, and their eyes wide with profound fear.

“Are you leaving or not?” Gu Mo’s voice was icily calm, yet his aura pressed down on them like an insurmountable mountain, making it impossible for them to straighten their backs. The sheer power of his presence caused their qi and blood to surge violently within their bodies, creating a suffocating sensation that threatened to choke them.

“Spare our lives… We’ll leave, we’ll leave right away…” The leader of the loose cultivators managed to stammer out a plea for mercy, enduring the crushing pressure. As he spoke, he could already feel blood welling up in his throat, coating his tongue with its metallic taste.

Gu Mo had no intention of taking their lives. He promptly withdrew his immense pressure, watching as the terrified group scrambled away, crawling desperately until they were out of sight. With the nuisance dealt with, he calmly sat down at the entrance of his tent.

“Tsk, tsk, that was impressive,” Luo Yu grinned, patting Gu Mo on the shoulder. “I’ll definitely learn from you next time.”

Listening to his playful remark, Gu Mo didn’t respond directly. Instead, he gazed out at the vast sea, his expression thoughtful. “Tell me,” he began, his voice quieter now, “if Hell’s Lord is really here, could he be in the sea? If that’s the case, then he…”

He trailed off, unable to complete the sentence. The implications were immense. A living person, regardless of their power, could not simply remain indefinitely in the depths of the ocean without needing to surface. Unless, of course, there was some kind of hidden underwater secret palace or ancient ruins beneath the waves. How else could someone possibly block all six senses and sustain themselves in the ocean’s crushing depths without ever needing to emerge?

Luo Yu, who had been teasing moments before, sobered significantly upon hearing Gu Mo’s words. He, too, looked out at the dark, expansive sea. “No matter what,” he stated, his voice firm with conviction, “I believe that Hell’s Lord is still alive. As long as he is alive, there are endless possibilities.”
