MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1456 - 1456: Myriad Prodigies: Respite

“The Ocean of Crystallized Truths…”

As these words faintly left Valyr’s mouth, the young man briefly glanced at the magic screen broadcasting the current batch’s first round, sipping on the drink he ordered in the process.

After informing Lunarossa about the possibility of Erika being a spy for the Crimson Cathedral, the woman decided to shift their topic to the ongoing tournament, informing the young man of the various rewards that he could possibly obtain.

Of course, as they were now both part of the same organization, as well as working together for the same task, she also went ahead and gave him a brief explanation on the mechanics of the second round, informing him in advance that she might change it in response to their target’s goals.

Ding!

While he was continuing to mull over the various thoughts that lingered in his mind, the young man received a notification all of a sudden, prompting him to open the system to see who messaged him.

“Once the first round is done, I’ll have the organizers announce a two-day break in preparation for the changes to the second round.”

Reading through the message he received, Valyr immediately knew that Lunarossa was talking to him.

“During this time, you and all the other participants are free to wander throughout the kingdom,” she wrote in her next message. “However, do still keep in mind the mission Mystia has given us while resting.”

“I will,” wrote Valyr in his response, only to then glance at Ataraxia before him soon after.

Hoping to improve his simultaneous control over both of his identities while [Soul Split] was activated, the young man eventually decided to keep the skill active whenever he could during the tournament.

Although the reason behind the decision was mostly due to the fact that he had forgotten the idea not long after he first came up with it, Valyr also felt that it was better for him to further improve his proficiency with the skill beforehand.

After all, the possibility of the two of them being called to the surface at the same time still existed.

With that, the young man immediately got to work after his private discussion with Lunarossa was over, pushing his mind to the utmost limit as he controlled both identities to do different actions simultaneously.

Though only half a day had passed since then, the young man had already improved his control over the skill to the point he felt confident he could handle basic fights with both identities.

…Given that the enemies were stationary, of course.

“…Say, Director.” After exchanging a few more messages with Lunarossa regarding the tournament, a question eventually surfaced within Valyr’s mind.

“Is there any rule prohibiting a participant from ascending to a higher class rank during the tournament?”

As he sent this question to the director, the latter’s mention of the Ocean of Crystallized Truths faintly echoed within his mind, causing him to think that it would be a good idea to increase his chances of entering it through any means.

Just like the name implied, the Ocean of Crystallized Truths was a place where one would come into close contact with the various truths governing the universe. Because of that, it was seen by many as a haven, especially for those who were stuck at a bottleneck in terms of their Intent comprehension.

However, having already experienced the infusion of Crystallized Nomological Shards thanks to Vaughn, the young man did not really have any expectations towards the ocean in that regard.

If anything, it was the other properties the ocean surprisingly had, which was discovered by a group of players a year after the War of the Three Sovereignties had ended.

‘From what I could recall, the Ocean of Crystallized Truths not only improves the rate of one’s Intent comprehension, but it also improves the speed at which one improves their skill…’

‘As well as solidify the foundation of one’s Legacy in preparation for the ascension to Myth level.’

Inwardly muttering these words to himself, Valyr’s eyes glistened with expectation, especially towards the third function the ocean had.

Though it was considered by many to be a strength one could tap into once one reached the Myth level, in reality, Legacies were formed by a person before their ascension, assimilating and condensing one’s hardships into something greater.

Naturally, just like many other things in the world of Greater Beyond, Legacies also had rarities, with a higher rarity Legacy offering one a better chance at breaking through the shackles of mortality.

As far as Valyr could recall, the effect the Ocean of Crystallized Truths had in that aspect was marginal at best, with the players that experienced it back then writing down that only one of them experienced an increase in their Legacy’s rarity.

Nevertheless, he was still going to aim for it.

Obtaining a response from Lunarossa that it was prohibited for any participant to ascend during the duration of the tournament, Valyr eventually ended his conversation with her as he and Ataraxia continued to pass the time.

Eventually, the first round had officially come to an end.

“…Finally. The first round is over.”

Hearing the announcer inform everyone throughout the amphitheater that the first round was finally over, a wave of relief swiftly enveloped all of the participants, with those that were in the first few batches feeling it even more so.

Continuing to listen to the announcer’s words from underground, Valyr soon had a smile on his face once the announcer confirmed the conversation he shared with Lunarossa.

Naturally, all of the participants jumped in joy after that, seeing as they were being given the opportunity to get some proper rest.

With the announcer’s list of announcements ending not long after, a large wave of participants immediately made their way out of the surface, causing those that lagged behind to look at the sight before them with a bit of annoyance.

On the other hand, a look of amusement appeared on Valyr’s face as he subtly had his original identity head towards a secluded alley.

Then, after making sure that no one had seen him, he then proceeded to deactivate [Soul Split], which left Ataraxia behind.

“Man…” Letting out a long yawn, the young man continued to watch the other participants head to the surface for a bit more.

“To think it took over ten days for the first round to end.”

Muttering these words to himself, Valyr went ahead and logged out of Greater Beyond, only to be greeted by bright sunlight the moment he got out of his gaming pod.

Seeing that his cousin Adrian was still in-game, a faint smile appeared on the young man’s face as he got to bed.

Making sure to set an alarm in order for him to not miss the second round, Valyr quickly fell into deep sleep, allowing his mental fatigue to take him to the world of slumber.
