“Now you’re threatening me!” Kai shouted as he gripped his hands right around Midwak’s throat. He wanted to close it tight right there and then, but there was a part of him that thought, what if? What if Midwak was telling the truth.
He was now part of the Lupus gang, or at least that’s what Kai thought, but why had he come here, on his own then, and if they really were in trouble and they got hurt because he was being rash he would never forgive himself.
“Threatening? You were the one that started this fight!” Midwak claimed. “I told you already, I’m not with Lupus. You should know, Gary should tell that I’m still part of the Pack. I haven’t left it, he should be able to tell.”
Thinking back, Kai did remember Gary saying that he could still see Midwak in his system. It was also the way he knew what Class Midwak was now.
“You let up the pack rules after I helped you in Slough,” Midwak explained. “You said it was a reward… for helping you guys out, to give me the freedom to do as I want.”
Now that Kai thought about it, it was true. Midwak was no longer restricted by the tight restrictions put in place, but still, why was he here then.
“Enough, who’s in trouble, who are you talking about?” Kai asked, tightening his grip for a moment.
“That Innu, and Jake… or was it Blake, damn it! I never gave a crap about their names to begin with!” Midwak shouted.
Originally, the group had wanted to venture into Ruin City to find out what had happened to Blake and Innu, it was Gary’s number one request. If anything, Kai knew it was perhaps Gary’s priority in this whole thing rather than delivering a package.
“How do I know you’re telling the truth!” Kai asked. “Even if I believe what you’re saying, I could be running into a trap, you could have just brought me here to pretend to be an ally, how can I trust you now that you’ve done this.”
Midwak eventually gathered some strength to hit Kai’s arm out of the way. Kai had willingly let go. He feared that if he let his anger get to him he might have choked Midwak to death.
Coughing for a moment, Midwak eventually cleared his throat and looked at Kai defiantly.
“I hate Lupus, with every fibre of my being. No matter what happened, no matter what, my hatred for him will never go. I would never join Lupus in a thousand years!” Midwak shouted.
“Then tell me, tell me what happened! Why did you leave Notsburg, why was there someone in your place!”
“I’ll tell you,” Midwak said. “I’ll tell you what happened in Notsburg that day, and I’ll tell you why I would never work with Lupus, and then maybe you’ll use that small brain of yours and believe me!”
At the time, Midwak was at his post in Notsburg. He was looking over the city, while the majority of the group had decided to venture to face off Harvor Ego.
“Those damned guys, they’re useless. If a group of them end up dead because they thought they could do it without me, well that’s just them!” Midwak said to himself, clenching his fist.
“They’re going to lower the members of the pack, and I need it, I need it, ahhh! The only reason why I haven’t challenged Gary is because I’m still not used to my own powers fully.”
It hadn’t been long since Midwak had advanced his class, but the main issue was, where could he practice using his skills. It wasn’t as if there were many Altered to deal with, only troublesome customers, who were too easy to fight against.
In the middle of his thoughts, the door was swung wide open. “Sir… there is a guest here to see you.”
“Who is it?” Midwak asked.
“She says she’s—” Before the man could finish his sentence, he was grabbed by the head and chucked to the side.
Walking in, a woman with dark hair, long boots that went up to her knees and fierce eyes had entered. She strutted walking down the red carpet as if she owned the place.
“Ylva!” Midwak said, grinding his teeth.
“It’s been a long time, Midwak,” Ylva said with a smile. “But I hope you should know that my intentions of coming here are pure. As you can see, I have completely come here on my own.”
“You, with pure intentions?” Midwak said. “You should know, things have changed since the last time the two of us have met.”
Ylva folded her arms and looked around the grand place. It was quite a nice room that showed that Midwak was living quite the cushioned life in Notsburg. He was practically the owner of the city.
“I can see that, but I never thought you were the type to work for someone else. I always thought you had more passion than that?” Ylva said chuckling.
Midwak then stood up, and pointed his hand outward toward Ylva, ready to fire out his nail at any second to hit her.
“Another pack member has come into my domain, and the Luna no less. In my eyes, that’s you trying to start a war.”
A belly full of laughter filled the room, coming from Ylva no less. She stopped and smiled.
“First, I really don’t think you have the power to best me, and I think even you would know that,” Ylva said. “Second, I really think you should hear out what I have to say.
“What if I was to tell you that I have a plan—a way for you to get rid of Lupus—and the two of us could do it together?”
