Nine Star Hegemon Body Art

Chapter 5645: Injury for Injury, Life for Life

The demon race’s peak experts—monsters sealed since the primal chaos era, heavenly geniuses that stood above all others, and existences that could dominate realms—still fell victim to Long Chen’s devilish palm.

Hou Tianwu, Xue Yingfeng, and Xiang Tu were unimaginably powerful. But they all shared a humiliating fate: they had been slapped in the face by Long Chen.

A slap like this was exceedingly humiliating. The stronger the individual, the more intolerable such an insult became. However, Long Chen delivered this humiliation without hesitation, carving his name into history. Even if he died today, the audacity of these slaps would echo through the ages.

In truth, Long Chen hadn’t planned on slapping Xiang Tu. He wasn’t in the mood for theatrics. A slap brought no tactical advantage. However, since Xiang Tu already delivered his face to him, Long Chen had no choice but to fulfill his wish. After the slap, Long Chen swung Evilmoon, his dragon blood power erupting.

Unfortunately, Long Chen’s dragon blood was unstable right now, its violent nature spiraling out of control. As a result, his saber strike wavered, leaving faint phantoms in its trail—a sign of scattered power.

BOOM!

Xiang Tu casually blocked the strike, sending Long Chen hurtling back. More blood sprayed from Long Chen’s mouth, as though his dragon blood found an outlet to escape. Startled, he hastily circulated his violet blood to calm the frenzy. Unlike the dragon blood, his violet blood was gentle, quickly soothing the storm within his body.

The blood Long Chen spat out turned into a mist, drawn toward the Ten Thousand Dragon Nest. Yet, it bypassed the nest entirely, absorbed instead by the giant channel linked to the Emperor reverse scale. A chilling thought crossed Long Chen’s mind: just as he sought the Emperor reverse scale, it too sought the essence blood within him.

“You damn insect, how dare you do this to me?! Die!” Xiang Tu roared, fury radiating from his colossal frame.

While he wasn’t injured by this slap, he could feel a stinging pain on his cheek. His elephant tusk spear thrust toward Long Chen with devastating force.

Long Chen grimaced. His astral energy was drained, his dragon blood uncontrollable, and his violet blood preoccupied with placating the former. Left with no other choice, he infused seven-color Supreme Blood into Evilmoon.

BOOM!

Seven-colored divine light exploded as Evilmoon was sent flying from Long Chen’s grasp. His right hand was left in shreds.

“Long Chen!” Tang Wan-er’s anguished cry pierced the battlefield.

Her lips quivered, blood dripping where she had bitten them. She wanted to save Long Chen, but she couldn’t do so. The barrier she maintained was the only thing preventing the demon race’s army from overrunning the Dragonblood warriors. If she saved Long Chen and the Dragonblood warriors died for it, he definitely wouldn’t forgive her.

However, if she didn’t do anything, Long Chen would die to Xiang Tu. Tears streamed down her face as she stood frozen, caught between duty and her love for him.

With Evilmoon gone, Long Chen was defenseless. Xiang Tu’s weapon had lost much of its power but still continued toward Long Chen’s chest. Blood sprayed, and Xiang Tu reached for Long Chen’s throat, intent on capturing him alive.

“Big brother Long Chen!” Xiao Yue and the others screamed in horror, ready to abandon their positions to save him.

However, just as Xiang Tu’s fingers brushed Long Chen’s neck, a sinister aura erupted. Long Chen’s left hand revealed a strange black-leafed vine crackling with dark lightning. A cold smile curled his lips as he smashed the leaf against Xiang Tu’s stomach.

A wave of deathly energy surged through Xiang Tu. In an instant, his expression shifted from smug triumph to sheer terror. By this point, it was too late to dodge. Divine light gathered in front of him along with his seven core dragon qi, forming a shield.

CRACK!

The shield shattered instantly, and black lightning pierced Xiang Tu’s massive chest, sending him staggering back. With an explosive sound, both Long Chen and Xiang Tu were sent flying. This was a practically suicidal exchange.

The battlefield descended into a stunned silence. The demon race’s experts stared in disbelief, unable to comprehend what they had just witnessed. Long Chen had deliberately released Evilmoon, luring Xiang Tu into close combat. His audacious strategy involved using his chest to endure Xiang Tu’s devastating attack, all while concealing his left hand behind his back.

No one had noticed this detail at first. But when they thought about the sequence of events, it seemed that everything had been orchestrated by Long Chen. He had deliberately baited Xiang Tu into range, creating the perfect opportunity to strike a lethal blow.

What shook them even more was Long Chen’s ability to calculate Xiang Tu’s intentions so accurately. He had anticipated that Xiang Tu wouldn’t kill him outright—a critical misstep that Long Chen exploited efficiently.

Long Chen had gambled his very life and emerged victorious. Most terrifying of all, his gaze hadn’t so much as twitched throughout the ordeal. That unflinching resolve sent chills down the spines of everyone present.

“You… pfft!” Xiang Tu attempted to speak, his trembling finger pointing at Long Chen. But before he could utter a word, blood erupted from his mouth, reeking of decay and venom.

Horrified, Xiang Tu realized the black lightning at his chest wound was continuing to corrode his body. Even his Heavenly Doyen energy was powerless against it.

Reacting swiftly, the experts of the Mammoth Devil Elephant race formed hand seals, unleashing a torrent of devil qi that enveloped Xiang Tu.

The black lightning expanded, wrapping around all of them like chains. Though their efforts dispersed the destructive energy among them, black qi started seeping into their faces. Split between all of them, the mysterious vine’s power was no longer fatal.

However, Xiang Tu was still in a dire state and wouldn’t be able to recover immediately.

“Die, you foolish human!”

A furious roar split the air as golden wings unfurled, casting an enormous shadow across the battlefield. The expert from the Golden Great Peng race seized this opportunity to unleash a ferocious attack on Long Chen.

“Even if I grow old and injured, I, Long Chen, would never die to trash like you,” muttered Long Chen.

Long Chen was already injured and seemed powerless to resist. But then, he shut one eye and prepared to use the Purgatory Eyes. This final trump card would drain the rest of Long Chen’s strength, and he could only hope to take down one of them. Yet, one was better than none.

Just as Long Chen steeled himself for his final stand, a thunderous roar shook the heavens.

“Who dares to bully my big brother Long?!”

Like the roar of an ancient barbarian god, the voice shook the very foundation of the battlefield. A pair of enormous golden hands then emerged from the void and grabbed the Golden Great Peng.

The Golden Great Peng was so big that its wings covered the sky. But in front of the titanic hands, it looked like a tiny bird. Before it could resist, the hands mercilessly tore it apart. Blood rained down in torrents as the once-majestic creature was ripped in two.
