Following that voice, a group of disciples clad in luxurious robes strode in. Each of them was a thirteen-vein Heaven Saint, exuding formidable violet blood energy.

The moment they appeared, the Luo family’s disciples fell silent. It was as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over them, draining the excitement from their faces. They stood there nervously.

Long Chen observed that this group consisted of over a hundred people, many of whom had been in the plaza listening to the lecture earlier.

The one who had spoken was a tall, thin man with unnaturally large, bulging eyes that made him resemble a goldfish. His chin was long and pointed, almost like a shovel. In spite of his strange looks, his arrogance was overwhelming. The moment he saw Long Chen, he sneered and mocked him openly.

Initially, Long Chen was slightly irritated, but after getting a good look at the man’s face, he decided to let it slide. After all, who would bother arguing with someone suffering from apparent mental deficits?

“Shenghui, don’t spout nonsense. This is a descendant of Elder Zichuan’s branch. From now on, he is your brother. Watch your mouth!” an Elder from the Luo family sternly reprimanded him.

This fellow was clearly famous in the Luo family for his unpleasant mouth. No one liked him. If it weren’t for his immense talent and potential, that mouth of his would have gotten him into countless problems.

Tch, that branch? No wonder these useless fools are so excited. It’s just country bumpkins running into each other. I, Shenghui, don’t recognize brothers like that. My brothers aren’t a waste of food,” sneered Luo Shenghui.

As one of the Luo family’s top heavenly geniuses, Luo Shenghui was incredibly arrogant. However, the Luo family’s Elders couldn’t do anything about it. If they offended Luo Shenghui, he could change his surname and defect to another family’s camp. The Luo family would then lose one of its main fighters.

In the violet blood race, it wasn’t all that odd for people to change surnames. Thus, this fellow was particularly fearless, and even the Luo family’s Elders had no other choice.

“Hahaha!” Luo Shenghui’s entourage burst into laughter, further humiliating the Luo family’s disciples.

The Luo family’s younger generation clenched their fists, their expressions darkening, but no one dared to speak against Shenghui’s insult.

Seeing this scene, Luo Yingchen shouted, “Shut your mouth! Long Chen is—”

Luo Shenghui interrupted, “I don’t care who he is, Grandpa Yingchen. I have no interest in his name. All of you are just leeching off the Luo family’s resources, wasting the violet blood race’s precious blessings. It has nothing to do with me, but at the very least, useless people should know their place. Isn’t it a bit much to be making such a grand fuss over nothing? Even a beggar knows to eat their scraps quietly in a corner instead of parading around in front of everyone.”

Elder Luo Yingchen was livid. Since when did this little fellow get this arrogant? He didn’t even put his elder in his eyes.

Luo Yingchen extended his hand to teach this brat a lesson. Even if Luo Shenghui ended up defecting to another family, it would be better than letting him run rampant here.

But before he could act, Long Chen calmly said, “It’s fine. Don’t stoop to this child’s level.”

Luo Shenghui’s expression sank. Just who was this newcomer?

“Your face is perfect,” Long Chen suddenly remarked, turning toward Luo Shenghui.

Luo Shenghui was startled, misinterpreting the comment as flattery. He sneered. “It’s useless to suck up to me now. Like I said, beggars should stay out of sight.”

“No, really,” Long Chen continued, extending his hand. “Your face is exactly the size of my palm.”

Long Zhantian simply sighed, not saying anything. After all, he knew his son, and he couldn’t let Long Chen suffer here.

Luo Shenghui’s expression twisted in confusion and anger, but before he could respond, another voice rang out.

“Shenghui, your mouth is too loathsome! Have you been stuffing your face with shit somewhere others can’t see?”

A broad-shouldered, muscular man strode in, leading another group of disciples. His presence alone made Luo Shenghui take an instinctive step back. However, Luo Shenghui quickly regained his arrogance and said stubbornly, “I’m just teaching these beggars a lesson. What does this have to do with you? Are you playing hero, Yanfeng?”

“Beggars?” Luo Yanfeng sneered. “Are you saying that from your ancestors to you, there has never been a single weak generation? That every single one of them was a peerless genius? If all weak people deserved to die, then should Luo Shenghui even exist? Or has your head turned into shit after eating so much of it?”

“You—!”

Before Shenghui could retort, a sudden clapping sound echoed through the room. Everyone turned to see Long Chen applauding. He then gave Luo Yanfeng a thumbs-up.

“Well said!”

It went without saying that Luo Yanfeng’s way of speaking was truly marvelous. Every family, no matter how powerful, had its ups and downs. Some generations produced unparalleled geniuses, while others were mediocre. It was an inevitable cycle.

Luo Yanfeng’s meaning was clear. No one could guarantee that the next generation would be stronger than the last, just as no one could predict if a weak lineage might suddenly produce a peerless genius.

Luo Shenghui gritted his teeth furiously but didn’t dare to argue. He knew better than to challenge Luo Yanfeng. Unlike himself, who was merely one of many top heavenly geniuses, Luo Yanfeng was the undisputed leader of the Luo family’s younger generation. He could not shake Luo Yanfeng’s position.

Luo Yanfeng seemed intent on protecting Long Chen. With no choice but to swallow his grievances, Luo Shenghui snorted and stormed off with his followers.

Once he was gone, Luo Yingchen sighed and shook his head. “That brat is getting more and more out of control.”

Luo Yanfeng scoffed. “And whose fault is that? You all let him get this way. I’ve been wanting to put him in his place for a long time. The Luo family doesn’t need someone like him.”

Clearly, Luo Yanfeng detested that arrogant fellow. But Elder Luo Yingchen always prioritized the bigger picture, thinking that Luo Shenghui’s arrogance was simply youthful willfulness. He had believed the boy would mature with time.

However, he was wrong. Luo Shenghui’s arrogance had only inflated, to the point where he didn’t even respect his elders.

“Yanfeng, it’s good that you are here,” Elder Luo Yingchen said. “You can bring Long Chen to take the test. Remember, follow the standards. Don’t let anyone say that we gave him preferential treatment.”

“Understood.” Luo Yanfeng smiled warmly at Long Chen and threw an arm around his shoulder. “Brother Long Chen, come with me.”

With that, he led Long Chen away, followed by a group of young disciples.

As they departed, an Elder turned to Long Zhantian, who was watching them with a strange expression.

This Elder said, “Zhantian, with Yanfeng looking after him, you don’t have to worry about Long Chen.”

Long Zhantian sighed.

Am I worried for Long Chen? No… I’m worried for your disciples!
