The Kingdoms of Nalg and Ends were all in dire condition. The Mong Empire had hit them hard and this was without to say that the attacks had been intensified by certain mage casters. And they were none other than the Star Foxes.
This was extremely obvious since the Star Foxes were the only practitioners who were able to use forbidden magic like necromancy without any trace of the casters due to their trained ability to summon those undead and the abominations that had been created alongside them.
With the loss of their army from the previous clash against Ress, those kingdoms never had the chance to win against Mong Empire.
The Kingdom of Pal and Brooj had promised soldiers and aid but they were insufficient against the horde of undead that the Star Foxes had conjured. And the Kingdom of Ends was the only nation that was receiving the aid not Nalg who was stranded alone due to its geographical position.
There was no way for the Kingdom of Pal to risk their men to go across the Northern plains to reach Nalg unless Ress suddenly opened the doors for them.
There was little chance of reinforcement from the Nalg side and they had to stretch their forces even thinner to ensure that demons were not rushing in from the North while they protected their southern borders. The only consolation they had was that Ress was not disturbing them at all.
Not to mention, the Star Foxes had been training the use of necromancy with Jin's dungeon portals, and ever since their inception against the orcs when they were defending the Pandarians, the Star Foxes had been more bold and creative in using those undead.
While Jin did not provide them with firearms, Kraft seemingly copied a poor man's version of a musket rifle. With such a design, they produced numerous musket wand rifles that the Undead were able to hold and use. Their reload times were abysmal and difficult for a mindless zombie to reload them.
The only way for them to use it was to carry several musket rifles behind the zombie's backs and throw those musket rifles on the ground after using them once.
It was only later after the battlegrounds had been littered with those musket rifles that the Mong Empire soldiers came in to pick them up and reload them, ready for them to use for the next batch of undeads. Only a select few Star Foxes who were more specalised in the use of necromancy had enabled living skeletons the ability to shoot and reload musket wand rifles.Still, even with just the zombies carrying multiple muskets behind their backs, that additional firepower was more than sufficient to reduce the current defences the two kingdoms that Mong was attacking against.
They eventually broke through with the superiority of numbers, slaughtering anyone that was in their paths and it was only when they reached the capitals of both Kingdoms that they finally showed some proper resistance.
Whatever mages that were left had been fielded as officers, dishing out wide areas of effect fire spells in order to clear the horde. Archers were dousing their arrows with flames to halt the advance of the zombies. However, the defenders had their fun for that few hours upon the encounter.
Arrows were depleted, mages were exhausted. As much as the carpenters and the woodworkers desperately tried to replenish the supplies of arrows, there was not enough to go around, especially for the Kingdom of Nalg and they were getting desperate. The capital was surrounded and it was only a matter of time before the zombies accumulated in numbers and ran over the entire capital.
Thus, at that point of desperation, Airships that were initially in their prototype phases as well as flying mounts were used as a means of escape toward the West where Ress resided. When the airship dropped their citizens near Ress borders, they were literally banging on the isolation barrier, requesting Ress to open up for them to hide from this madness.
Even the King of Nalg decided to travel to the Ress border in hopes that Ress patrols would be able to see that the Royalty was there (so the nobles a bit of face in hopes that the barrier could be opened for the citizens to go through). Of course, the Royalty of Nalg did not wish to die too but this was the only way they could think of.
Otherwise, it was to let the Demons enter and let the zombies and Demons fight while the remaining population of Nalg gathered at Ress Isolation Barrier.
It was only when the situation got so dire that Jin and a couple of Rifle Mages came out from the Isolation barrier and told them to pay up. However, it was not gold that Jin wanted but talent.
Whoever showed talent in the fields that Jin required for the fortification of Ress was given priority to enter. There were the very same rows of counters that the Rifle Mages had set up to take in the prisoners of war at the edge of the isolation barrier. In the meantime, Jin and some other Rifle Mages took a position to keep the perimeter safe.
The King of Nalg literally begged Jin to help him to retake their capital back again but Jin shook his head. "You can offer me nothing and right here, your citizens are declaring they are dropping their Nalg citizenship for Ress Citizenship. If you wish to retake your capital, do it with your own countrymen. I am in no position to help you at all."
"Wait, does that mean I can be a Ress citizen as well?"
"Do you have any talents?" Jin asked and the King of Nalg bit his lips, attempting to use all the gold and fortune that the King had accumulated in his life as collateral. "No thanks, I am not interested in gold. They are useless in Ress. I need human talents and not some bigshot who thinks that he can stay in Ress comfortably without working."
"Then I will do the paperwork!" The King exclaimed which Jin ignored and told him to queue at the counter. At the same time as Jin was walking away, he shouted loudly for everyone to hear.
"The queue does not discriminate whether you are a noble or a beggar. As long as you prove yourself to be worthy of a skill, you queue up and we select you. Anyone who dares to skip the queue or attempt to bribe our officers will be banned from Ress!"
It was bloody obvious who he was hinting as Jin smiled, knowing that he got his long sought after petty revenge from all the arrogance these kings had shown to him when he was starting out. The King's assistant immediately beckoned his King to enter the queue as Jin went back into the isolation barrier without care about what ruin awaited the leftover Kingdom of Nalg.

All he knew was that that place would be a place filled with riches for thieves, bandits and adventurers who wished to get their hands on those said fortune that the King of Nalg had exclaimed. However, if they wished to do that, they had to either wait till the defenders were killed or the existence of demons and zombies would not idle there when they claimed victory.
