Chapter 1189: Chapter 1186 Missing
After the room door closed, she hurriedly stretched out her hand to pat off the melted snow from his shoulders.
“Ah Heng, sit beside the brazier and warm up. You’ve been exposed to the damp, and it’s easy to catch a cold in this bitterly cold weather of the twelfth lunar month. Just now, were you outside in the wind? I can see your hands are completely frozen…”
“Mm…” Before Ye Muyu could finish speaking, the man leaned in and embraced her, pressing his lips to hers, cold at first but soon turning fiery hot.
The man’s voice murmured, “Ah Yu, I’ve missed you so much.”
Ye Muyu’s cheeks instantly flushed red, and her whole body softened as he held her tightly in his arms.
Chu Heng kissed the tip of her nose, her cheeks, intertwining his large fingers with her delicate ones.
It took a while for Ye Muyu to be released from his embrace, her lips a bright red as if she had been fiercely bullied. The couple hadn’t seen each other in a long time and missed each other tremendously; just looking at him made Ye Muyu happy, a smile lingering on her lips.
“Ah Heng, is the Emperor going to let me go back?” Ye Muyu asked expectantly.
Chu Heng nodded, “The New Year is about to come.”
Indeed, it was already the twelfth lunar month. The Emperor could not keep her any longer. Whatever the outcome, it would be decided in these coming days.
“You’ve lost weight.” Ye Muyu, remembering the pain from his stubble, pouted and lightly huffed, “When did you start growing a beard? Are you too busy to take care of yourself, no time to rest?”
Towards the end, her slight complaint had turned into concern, her eyes brimming with worry as she looked at him, softening Chu Heng’s heart in an instant.
He shook his head, “Not busy, just forgot to shave. I’ll clean up when I go back, waiting for you to return.”
“Good, wait for me. I’ll be back soon.” Ye Muyu reached out to touch his face. Even though the stubble was a bit prickly, it made him look particularly spirited and unexpectedly sexy.
“What have you been doing these days here?” Chu Heng asked softly.
Ye Muyu, not wanting to worry him, detailed her life, how she spent her days farming produce, writing books, or being called by Empress Lin for a chat. She hadn’t left Kunning Palace, not even seeing the Dowager Empress.
Although a bit boring, there was no one to bother her, no trouble to be found, and she could rest whenever she was tired. Aside from some unfamiliarity, it was as leisurely as being at home.
Chu Heng listened quietly, his gaze on her tender, and once she finished speaking, he began to actively share news of home, “There’s nothing much at home. Mother and father worry about you, but I’ve explained everything to them.”
“Lil’ Jin’s studies have improved lately, and Chu Ziluo’s embroidery has received praise from her teacher.”
“Aside from missing you, there’s nothing else affecting us.”
Ye Muyu felt his hand getting hot, especially under his beautiful gaze.
“I miss you all too.” Ye Muyu cuddled up to him like a coquette and leaned against his chest.
Chu Heng embraced her, leaving a kiss on her forehead.
The meeting time was only two quarters of an hour.
The couple talked snuggled together, and time inadvertently slipped by.
Chu Heng helped her straighten up, unwillingly kissing her eyelids and the tip of her nose before speaking with a husky voice, “Just take good care of yourself, you don’t need to worry about anything else. The palace is complicated, but it’s still safe beside the Empress.”
“Alright, I will take good care of myself. I won’t leave Kunning Palace before the Emperor sends word.”
“Good girl.” Chu Heng ruffled her hair as if coaxing a child.
