Rebirth: Leading Families to Survive in the Apocalypse

Chapter 78: Chapter Seventy-Eight: Joining the Team

“Little sister, thank you for coming to rescue us,”

Guo Yang was tearfully grateful; he had been saved by Lu Hao once again.

“Lu Hao, how did you know we were here?” Guo Yang asked curiously.

“Let’s talk about it when we get back,”

As Lu Hao spoke, he extracted a crystal core from the head of a zombie on the ground. It was the red Fire Element Crystal Core he needed.

It was Mao Qiqi who had informed them about this place. Qiqi said that three humans and a mutated zombie had arrived nearby, and from that, he guessed that it could be Guo Yang and his group in danger, so he and Su Jin hurried over.

The car Guo Yang had arrived in was now completely burned out, so the group had no choice but to walk back.

When the family learned that Su Jin and Lu Hao had gone out to rescue others, they waited for them in the courtyard, relieved only when they saw them return safely.

Lu Hao introduced the three men to his family. After exchanging greetings, Yin Chengtian, who had come out of the house, noticed Liao Yifan behind Captain Lu and brightened up, running over.

“Liao Yifan? How did you get here?”

Though Liao Yifan was known to be a bit overbearing, seeing her old colleague unharmed brought joy to him and Shi Jin both.

“I came with a friend and just got rescued by Captain Lu,” Yifan answered. “What are you two doing here?”

Liao Yifan was also delighted to see them. She had been worrying about her colleagues at the police station while on the road.

“We’ve come to hang out with Captain Lu, hehe,” Shi Jin replied, feeling a bit shy speaking to a beautiful woman.

“Fanfan, stop lingering here; you got hurt just now, didn’t you? Is it severe?” Guo Yang asked with concern.

Lu Hao glanced at Xue Wanyi, his expression seeming to ask, ‘Why has this guy changed like this?’ Xue Wanyi shrugged, indicating he didn’t know either.

“Who? Who got hurt? Let me take a look quickly,” Mrs. Su Lin Tianhui said, rushing over when she heard someone was injured.

“Ahem, I forgot to introduce her. This is my mom; she awakened a Healing Element Ability recently,” Su Jin explained. Mrs. Su had been eager to find someone to heal these days. If she hadn’t been so concerned about her own family, she would have even considered experimenting on her husband. Ṛ₳𐌽ΟʙЕs

“Really, Auntie, that’s amazing,” Guo Yang was also glad, seeing that Fanfan’s injury finally had a remedy.

In fact, Liao Yifan was merely punched by a zombie and wasn’t seriously hurt. But seeing the enthusiastic family, especially the kind-looking Mrs. Su, she couldn’t bring herself to refuse.

Lin Tianhui, seeing the beautiful young girl not rejecting her, liked her even more and pulled her into the house.

Lu Hao urged Guo Yang and Xue Wanyi not to be shy and invited them inside as well.

Their eyes widened when they saw the round dining table inside the house laden with steaming hot dishes. How many days had it been since they last had a full meal?

As the family warmly invited them to dine, Guo Yang’s eyes welled up with tears. It felt like returning to the times before the apocalypse, but his feelings were completely different now.

While eating, Guo Yang felt something was missing. He asked, “Why haven’t I seen Grandpa and Grandma?”

Seeing everyone at the table suddenly quiet, he also realized something and choked up, “I’m sorry. My condolences.”

Everyone at the table: …

“Guo Yang, my grandparents are fine. They’re in a very safe place,” Su Jin said, unable to bear Guo Yang’s somber thoughts about his grandparents.

“Really? That’s great. I knew Grandpa and Grandma would have their fortunes protected,” Guo Yang cheered up and resumed eating contentedly.

The crowd silently thought: Who just offered their condolences?

After the meal, Nie Qing learned that Xue Wanyi also had a Wind Element Ability and eagerly pulled him aside to discuss the uses of wind.

“Hey, Big Beard, how do you like this move?”

Nie Qing then boosted himself with the Wind Element Ability and swiftly flew up to the second floor of the courtyard.

“Wind can be used this way?” Big Beard Xue Wanyi became engrossed in Nie Qing’s showmanship…

“How about that, isn’t it cool? Hahahaha…” Nie Qing’s unrestrained laughter echoed through the courtyard, pushing Lu Guanhai to the limits of his tolerance and out to scold him.

Listening to the ruckus outside, Liao Yifan found it incredible.

“Don’t mind them; they’re always like this,” Mrs. Su Lin Tianhui explained while treating her wound.

“That’s good; I can see they have a strong bond,” Liao Yifan genuinely felt it was nice. This place was different from anywhere else she had been.

“Sister,”

Feeling someone tugging at her clothes, Liao Yifan looked down and immediately melted, confronted by a tender and adorable little girl.

“Hello, little friend,” Liao Yifan said, bending down to speak to her.

“Hello, sister. My name is Mao Qiqi,” Qiqi greeted politely.

“Hello, you can call me Sister Yifan,”

“Sister, the brother over there said you’re very good. Can you teach me martial arts?” Qiqi looked up expectantly at the beautiful sister before her.

“Sure, but learning martial arts is quite hard. Are you willing?” Liao Yifan was surprised to see such a young child eager to learn martial arts.

“Yes, Qiqi wants to go and kill the big monsters,”
