Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family
Chapter 443: Momentum stoppedChapter 443: Momentum stopped
Up above the arena, Claudia and Dicky discussed the fight, guessing who would win the battle.
“Chucky has gathered enough momentum by this point,” Dicky said. “It’s impossible to stop him by now. Michael’s best chance was when the fight first started. But unfortunately, he hadn’t had a full grasp of Chucky’s powers yet.”
Claudia couldn’t help but agree. She had seen multiple fights between Maugnetics before and could tell that the momentum of the fight had swung towards Chucky’s side from the very start.
Michael was forced to go on the defensive as he tried to escape away from Chucky’s axe swings. At first, it was easy since the weapon was quite heavy. But as his power grew, the weapon became too hard to dodge from.
This forced Michael to continuously teleport away at the last second. Still, as the fight wore on, it would only be a matter of time until Chucky became too powerful to stop.
“But it’s impressive that he’s able to use a teleportation spell that often,” Claudia commented. “I never knew he was quite adept at magic.”
Dicky was surprised too. The only reason why Michael was able to hold on this long was because of his seemingly limitless mana capacity as well as his variety of useful spells.
Back in the arena, Chucky stood on the ground, swinging his heavy axe with one hand like it was as light as a feather.
The weapon in his hands started to blur from how fast it was swinging.
“Are you going to surrender now?” Chucky asked. “There’s no way you could stop me now.”
But contrary to what others thought, Michael knew that the fight was far from over. He hadn’t even started yet.
Now that he had fully understood Chucky’s ability, he easily found a way to counter-attack.
“Come on. I don’t want to hurt you,” said Chucky. His sentiment was borne out of worry. In his mind, he thought that if the fight wore on any longer, Michael could get seriously hurt.
“I guess it’s time for me to show my hand,” Michael said.
He suddenly threw the Drone in his hands towards Chucky.
Chucky frowned as he saw the block of strange metal come towards him at very slow speeds. He didn’t know what kind of weapon this was, but he knew that a single swing from his axe was enough to split it in half, especially with all of the preserved momentum he had from his swings.
“Sorry about this!” Chucky shouted as he took his axe in both hands and swung it towards the Drone.
But it was at that moment that a buzzing sound echoed throughout the arena.
The Drone burst into life, with its propellers roaring with power. It suddenly shot up to the skies, surprising Chucky, Claudia, and Dicky.
Chucky could only mutter out confused sounds as the Drone stopped in the air as it reached its apex flight. And a moment later, it dove down towards Chucky at even faster speeds than when it flew.
“What kind of weapon is that?!” Claudia blurted out. It was clear from their viewing perspective that the ’drone’ was not a typical weapon that was thrown like a javelin. It flew all on its own!
The agility it had within the air triumphed even that of eagles and birds. It seemed to freely swim through the skies with extreme precision and speed.
This was not a weapon. This must have been an animal!
“Is this his Aubility?” she asked out loud.
Even Dicky was left speechless. But unlike Claudia, he knew that this was not Michael’s Aubility. He could tell that the ’weapon’ wasn’t being controlled by the power of the GodForge pieces. Instead, it was moving through those spinning things at the edges of the box. The greatest evidence of that was that Michael’s Diva had yet to appear above his figure.
And as someone who worked with metals all his life, he recognized that the weapon was made with intricate mechanics and physics.
But he knew that metals were not meant to fly like this. It was supposed to be impossible without the use of magic. Yet somehow, Michael was able to find a way to do so.
Meanwhile, Chucky eyed the flying drone with flaring eyes. He loved the challenge of something new and mysterious.
“It doesn’t matter. My momentum cannot be stopped!” he declared.
It was at this moment that the Drone suddenly flew close towards Chucky and stopped right in front of him. The two looked at each other, man and machine.
“Is he trying to get that weapon destroyed?!” Dicky shouted from above.
If Michael had full control of his weapon, then he should have used its aerial maneuverability to escape from Chucky’s unstoppable momentum at all times!
Yet, the Drone faced Chucky as if challenging the very source of his confidence. Was its momentum really unstoppable?
Chucky smiled, a bit annoyed and bemused by the inanimate object’s challenge. He gripped his axe tight and swung it directly at the drone, intending to split it directly in half.
His speed was far too fast for an ordinary eye to see.
But at the very last moment, the Drone suddenly tilted backwards and revealed its underside.
And in a split second, it released the spring mechanism and launched a metal switch from its dock.
The switch attached itself to Chucky’s forearm, stopping his movements completely. Meanwhile, his axe stayed stagnant in the air just a few inches away from hitting one of the Drone’s propellers.
And for a full second, Chucky remained in this state. Unaware of what was happening to him.
But for the two people above, they saw everything as clear as day. It left them speechless. Their eyes were clearly trying to decipher what had happened, but they came up with nothing. It was as if they were frozen in time too.
And as the second passed, the metal switch attached on Chucky’s forearm started to twitch and vibrate before fully popping out.
Chucky’s momentum returned, with his swing continuing downwards.
But now, the Drone was nowhere to be found. It was gone in less than an instant.
All of this felt strange to him. It felt like the world and time itself had zoomed forward in front of him.
And as he looked at the Axe in his hands, he realized that the momentum he had been conserving had vanished like it was nothing.
His Diva, the raging bronze bull, stopped releasing steam from its ears. Everything had reset to zero.
“What’s happening?!” Chucky asked, his face betraying how clueless he truly felt.
“This is my Aubility. And unfortunately for you, it is a direct counter to your Aubility,” Michael explained.
A magic circle appeared in front of his palms as he conjured a 5-star fireball spell that launched towards Chucky at relatively fast speeds.
With no momentum left in his axe, Chucky failed to protect himself from the upcoming bombardment.
The fireball exploded directly in his chest, sending him flying towards the wall with dust and debris flying all over.
A few seconds later, the dust settled. And as Michael approached, Chucky raised both of his hands in surrender.
“I lost!” he said wearily.
