Chapter 1208. The Demon King of Sunset’s Castle, the Final Story (1)

Chapter 1208. The Demon King of Sunset’s Castle, the Final Story (1)

Everything felt surreal. I was sure others felt the same way at the sudden turn of events.

Kim Hyun-Sung raised his head quietly while sporting sunset wings. Amidst the collapsing ceiling bathed in the rays of sunset, he spread his wings and looked around.

Overall, it was an unrealistic sight.

I couldn’t really see him because of the messy, long hair covering his face, but when he spread his wings, I got a glimpse of his face. There was a frown beneath the billowing hair. The sunset feathers flying everywhere descended slowly to the ground.

This wasn’t the best entrance because he simply descended from the sky.

However, the feathers flying around Kim Hyun-Sung, his demeanor, his face, and everything else were supporting his sudden appearance. He was setting the mood, and it was like he was saying that this was how the final boss ought to appear.

If I had to point out something I disliked...

‘Why... is he in such bad shape?’

Aside from his long hair that resembled a mane, his eyes glimmered in a light that made him look as if he had been cornered. His eyes were bloodshot, and his pupils were trembling anxiously. He was biting his lips, and his hands were trembling. Even though he always maintained the same weight, he looked as if he had lost some weight.

If he were chained up, he would look like a psychopathic patient in a psychiatric ward, and the sight left me speechless.

‘I can’t help it.’

After seeing that, who would question if the guild master was really mad? Even if I hadn't planted the seed, there was a chance that they had been talking about it among themselves.

A transcendent being couldn't change that drastically in such a short period of time, which made this scene even more shocking.

For some reason, I felt oddly pleased at the sight, but I also found him pitiful. Of course, I immediately suppressed those feelings.

And that was when Kim Hyun-Sung’s eyes landed on me...

‘How should I react?’

I decided to act surprised for now. I grabbed my head, showing the same reaction I would have upon seeing something I missed deeply. I was indirectly telling him that I wasn’t sure why I was crying.

Although I had used this method a few times before, it was always effective, so I had no other choice but to use it again. At the very least, he would surely feel confused.

I wasn't sure how he ended up here, but he definitely fought with the guild members. He looked like he was trying his best to hide his feelings, but he had always been an overthinker.

He wasn’t the type who could suppress the questions popping up in his head.

Of course...

‘He’s not the type to stay unmoving, either.’

Once he had made up his mind on something, he would make a move without hesitation. He had come out here to act, not to think.

“...”

“...”

It was so quiet that I was shocked.

It had been a few seconds since his descent, but the people were just staring at the Monarch of Sunset.

It was the most natural reaction lowly mortals could show upon staring at a transcendent being. It was natural for mortals to think that they were dreaming at the sight of the Monarch of Sunset.

The hearts of everyone present were pervaded by the rawest fear and terror, along with an incomprehensible sense of helplessness and awe.

Amidst the whirlwind of emotions, they chose to follow what they had etched into their very being. They chose to follow the manual that they had read and used hundreds of times before.

It was probably just to shake off their fear, but the troops screamed as soon as the sunset feathers finally touched the ground after a long adventure against gravity.

“Attack! Attaaaaaaaaaaaaack!”

I shouted, telling them to run away, but it was instantly drowned out by the voices that erupted in a frantic outburst.

“Attaaaaaaaack! Attack! Damn it!!! Attack! Attack already! Shit!!!”

“Kill that monster! Damn it! Damn it!”

“Die! Diiiiiiiiiiiie!”

And then...

“You pests,” Kim Hyun-Sung mumbled.

Swoosh!

Craaaaaaaaack!

The sunset feathers scattered everywhere.

Aaaaaaaaaaack!

Aaaah! Aaaaack!

“Priest! Priest!!! Ahhhhhhh!

“Shield... cough... mage—cough... ahhh!

‘Damn it.’

Damn it.

I didn’t even need to explain the devastation.

It was like a human crushing a bug with their fingers.

Woo Hyo-Yeol returned to his senses and took a huge step forward.

“Damn it.”

William and the members of the Flower and Fertility Familia faced Kim Hyun-Sung. They were counterattacking while trying to analyze Kim Hyun-Sung's attack patterns.

“Run!” I shouted.

“...”

“Run!” I shouted again.

“What?”

“Get a hold of yourself! Divide the troops into three groups! Only the troops who can move should move!” I instructed.

“What did you say?!” Woo Hyo-Yeol shouted.

“Woo Hyo-Yeol, you bastard. Listen to me! Listen!” I yelled.

‘We need to get out of here for now.’

The first thing we needed to do was get out of this place, and of course, there was a way to do that.

‘21st Legion’s Item #4, Magnetic Field Position Shifter.’

“Ha-Yan! Ha-Yan! Ha-Yan! Ha-Yan! Ha-Yan!!! Han Sora!” I shouted.

As if they had been waiting for this moment, dozens of crimson orbs flew toward the Monarch of Sunset. Deafening blasts erupted immediately afterward.

The storm of heat and mana created a tornado of debris, wind, and dust. The tornado was so fierce that I couldn’t really see what was going on.

Obviously, I knew what was going on.

Jung Ha-Yan and Han Sora were fighting Kim Hyun-Sung. Kim Hyun-Sung was busy defending himself against them. The barrage wasn't going to last long, but it was enough time to create an opening and for us to film a short drama.

“Mr. Hyo-Yeol, Mr. William,” I said.

“...”

“I... I leave the rest to you,” I told them.

“What?” Woo Hyo-Yeol asked.

“What do you mean, Mr. Lee Ki-Young?” William asked.

“That is my final request,” I said.

“You bastard! What nonsense are you saying?!” Woo Hyo-Yeol shouted.

‘What do you mean? I’m trying to send you guys to a different place.’

“Shit!!! What do you think—”

“Lee Ki-Young! You crazy bastard! I want you to—”

‘They’re making a big deal out of this.’

However, it couldn't be helped, as they needed to reach the minimum stat requirements.

“...”

This could actually be for the best.

‘I’m sure there’s a way.’

The battle ended sooner than I thought, but Kim Ye-Ri, Ahn Ki-Mo, and Park Deok-Gu’s job wasn’t done yet. It was more reasonable to think that Kim Hyun-Sung had either bypassed them or rendered them temporarily unable to fight rather than think that Kim Hyun-Sung had crippled them.

There was nothing I could do about the other actors, but we were at a point where they needed to level up as soon as possible by using those who still had roles to fulfill as whetstones.

“Mr. Lee Ki-Young... wait!”

“Mr. Lee Ki-Young!”

“Mr. Lee Ki-Young! Ah! No! No!”

To be frank, leveling up all of a sudden wasn’t always a good thing.

One could stuff one's mouth with all the sweets in the world, but digesting all those sweets was a different story. However, leveling them up was more important than that.

They just had to level up, and they could leave everything else to me. My job was to handle and make use of them, after all. Whether they could properly utilize that power was up to me as well, and I specialized in that field, so there was no reason not to try it.

‘There’s no reason not to give it a go.’

We would split up into three groups and give them their own special missions.

‘The wounded will be abandoned.'

“Damn it! Damn it!”

Nam Goong-Seon, Lim Chae-Ryeong, No Dam-Hye, and Woo Hyo-Yeol were starting to look blurry. William of the Flower and Fertility Familia had already made a move.

The noises were so loud that it felt like the Demon King’s Castle was going to come crashing down. I had to move away, as Kim Hyun-Sung’s target was me. I needed to get him away from our babies as far as possible until they were ready.

“W-We need to go back... N-N-No...” Jung Ha-Yan stuttered.

“...”

“O-O-Oppa...”

“...”

Eeeek...

Thanks to Jung Ha-Yan and Han Sora, we managed to buy some time, but there was no guarantee that they could stop him any longer.

Unlike the nerfed Jung Ha-Yan, Kim Hyun-Sung didn't really get nerfed. Of course, he could only use a limited amount of resources, but there was a huge difference between being able to use such resources and not being able to use them.

As expected, Kim Hyun-Sung broke through the barrage and flew straight toward me.

‘I won’t die.’

He had a lot to figure out. All he did was take a step forward, but he appeared right in front of me. I was sure he was far away just a moment ago, but now, he was looking down at me.

‘What...’

We were facing each other amidst the tense silence.

“Answer me,” Kim Hyun-Sung said.

“...”

“Mr. Ki-Young... Where... the hell...” Kim Hyun-Sung mumbled.

'I’ll ask him a question before he does.'

“Who... are you?” I asked.

“What...”

“Just... who are you?” I asked.

“...”

“Just who are you... no... Are you really the Monarch of Sunset? Are you really... the 21st Legion Commander... who invaded this land?” I asked.

“...”

“Why... Why won’t you leave Rohen alone?” I questioned.

“...”

“Why did you bring violence, fear, and terror into this land? What did the people of Rohen do wrong... What did we do so wrong... that you’re making us suffer?” I asked.

Obviously, I played the role of a righteous saint who couldn’t understand the Demon Monarch.

“Demon...” I mumbled.

“...”

“You dirty demon!” I shouted.

I stared at him as if I resented his very existence. I couldn't move because of his overwhelming presence, but I still glared at him. I bit my lips as if I were telling him that I wasn’t going to give in to fear.

'Yeah, just like Lee Ki-Young when he’s on the continent. I had to stand my ground just like Lee Ki-Young always did.'

“Y-You’re not Mr. Ki-Young," Kim Hyun-Sung muttered. Of course, I couldn’t hear him. If I were to react to his comment, things would become more annoying.

Uh... you’re not... Mr. Ki-Young...” Kim Hyun-Sung repeated.

He had to be having a headache because he grabbed his head, and from that alone, I figured out that he was having a mental breakdown. He was breathing heavily, and anxiety filled his eyes as he stared at me.

“You’re not Mr. Ki-Young. I’m... sure of it,” he mumbled. Even he looked like he was in disbelief. At this point, I had no choice but to speak again with confidence.

‘Our lovely Ha-Yan is casting her spell, right?’

“...”

“...”

"Ugh... you can kill me! But my conviction and Rohen’s will would never... ever submit to you,” I declared.
