Reincarnated With A Glitched System: Why Is My MP Not Running Out?
Chapter 1606 1606: Beneath the Oasis Waves—–
Nepheline and Shade swam through the calm waters of the oasis, quickly reaching the underground area through the hole in the depths, and then entering an area full of water flowing somewhere else. It seemed that this was the water that also surged into the surface, keeping the oasis with waves, something that shouldn’t even be possible to begin with as it was supposed to be a lake.
“This must be the underground rivers the kids talked about, right?”
Nepheline floated in midair, as she glanced around her surroundings. By using a simple Float Spell, the hero specialized in stone magic could easily float in the sky indefinitely, one of the advantages and reasons why, even elemental specializers, had to learn a lot of basic spells of various other elements at the beginning.
“It sure is quite the sight…”
Shade glanced around, encompassed by shadows that allowed him to easily walk through the walls and ceiling like a spider, not because he had to but mostly because he wanted, like Nepheline, he could float if he wanted.
The flowing water, the beautiful caverns, the colorful corals everywhere, indeed, it was a beautiful place, although rather dark, dimly illuminated by spiritual stones here and there.
“Aquarina said to follow the path with the most Water Spirit Stones… I guess that one, right?”
She pointed into the distance with her big hand, as Shade nodded.
“Let’s go then.”
The husband and wife moved through the flooded caverns, ultimately following the path with the most water spirit crystals, which led them to their destination.
In the way though, Nepheline stopped several times to check any new shiny ore she found, there were a lot of variants of water spirit crystals she hadn’t seen before.
Some were mixed with crystalized salt, making the Seawater Spirit Crystals, while others were much colder, being Ice Water Spirit Crystals.
“Alright Nepheline, you’ve picked enough, let’s go already…”
“B-But honey there’s that one over there I haven’t seen before!”
“That one?”
Shad extended a shadow spiderweb towards the crystal, dragging it back to him, it had a blue and green glow.
“What element is this one?”
“Gimme!”
She quickly stole it from his hands.
“Oooh! This is a Sea Storm Spirit Crystal. Wind, Water, and Salt together!” Nepheline nodded, fascinated.
“Hah… Well, you’ve got them all now,” Shade nodded.
Although Nepheline could be very strict and intimidating, Shade knew she had a cute, and quirky side to her. One that hasn’t gone away even when she was a child.
“Are you done already Nephyyy? I’m so tired and bored! Why couldn’t I stay back there with the kids?! I’m sure they would’ve had more fun!” Smilkas complained, floating around Nepheline.
“Well, she had always liked picking up stones and rare ores, hasn’t she? Hohoho…” Laughed Crystallion, a being made entirely out of spiritual crystals at that.
“Well, she likes to give it to us as snacks so that quirky side is beneficial to us, don’t complain so much Smilkas, you’re just a spoiled brat!” Quake, the huge turtle spirit complained.
Smilkas was the Gnome Spirit shaped like a cute, small girl made of mud and decorated with bright jewels, Crystallion was the Crystal Guardian Spirit shaped like a golem, and Quake was a huge turtle with colorful crystals on top of his shell.
All three of them were Nepheline’s strongest Spirits, beings she had walked with for years, she had contracted most of them early in her life, finding them within caves, dungeons, or inside a rock.
Every time she glared at them she easily recalled how she met them.
Smilkas was through finding her inside an abandoned dungeon made by some crazy Golem Mage, apparently she was his Spirit, but she fell into a long slumber after her master died of old age making golems. She was shy and very baby-like at first, but slowly revealed her true personality.
Crystallion was found inside a cave filled with spiritual crystals, he was the cave’s guardian, and after going against him and defeating him on her own, with her bare fists, Nepheline gained his respect, and he offered her to become her contracted spirit, which she accepted almost immediately. His personality had always been that of a brave warrior, but also with a kindhearted soul and a calm and composed demeanor.
And lastly, Quake… She found him inside a huge rock, or well, a boulder, inside an abandoned mine, the spirit energy he oozed from his slumbering state attracted a lot of monsters to that mine, which ended being abandoned.
After she and her friends battled the monsters inside and defeated the Stone Turtle Golem Boss of that Abandoned Mine, that had become a Dungeon because of Quake’s immense spiritual energies infusing the place with too much magic, she broke that boulder by accident, releasing him and waking him up from his two thousand years slumber.
Because she broke him out of his rock, which seemed to be some kind of feat, he ended becoming her contracted spirit as a reward. His personality had always been of a cranky old man, and he was also the oldest spirit she had.
“You guys… When are you going back to sleep again?” Nepheline sighed, trying to ignore them.
“Rudeeee!” Smilkas complained, sitting over her head. “Rude! Rudeeeee! You can’t say that to your spirits, Nephyyy! The hell is wrong with ya?!”
“Ugh…” Nepheline made an annoyed groan, her aura intensifying…
“N-Nepheline, calm down, come on, they’re just spirits,” Shade said. “Smilkas, maybe you can sit over my head instead?”
“Oh myyyy! If you insist, handsome!” Smilkas rushed towards him and after smooching his face, leaving a lot of mud, she sat over his white hair.
“Hahah, you sure look good with that new hat,” Nepheline laughed.
“H-Hahah… I’ll have to wash my hair after this… with lots of shampoo,” Shade sighed.
The things he did to just make her happy…
“So here it is then…”
Nepheline stood in front of the dungeon’s entrance, noticing the small sign placed there.
“Indeed, let’s go then.”
Shade nodded, walking forward with Nepheline.
“Oooh! Dungeon timeeee!”
Smilkas was very excited.
As the carefree team of heroes and spirits made their way inside this strange dungeon, their powerful presences quickly awakened… something within it.
“Who dares trespass my eternal utopia…?!”
An ancient, slumbering king of the depths.
