Chapter 3629: Dark Glow

Chapter 3629: Dark Glow

Each battleship would have eighty timed microarrays on them, each of which was capable of releasing an attack as powerful as a Progenitor’s full-strength strike.

The possibility of eighty full-power Progenitor attacks being released simultaneously would leave even sequence powerhouses dumbfounded.

Not every battleship would be protected by an Ortuser.

For some time, Lu Yin had been thinking about where he could place the timed microarrays, and he finally found an answer, all thanks to the visit from Zhou Qian and the others from the Ark Domain.

As for whether or not the timed microarrays would be discovered, given the fact that such technology had never appeared in the Spirit Nidus before, it was nearly impossible for anyone to find and remove the devices after they were installed on the battleships by the Ark Domain.

Even if they were found, they would have already become the Ru family’s problem. Boundless would have nothing to do with devices.

That method that Cheng Gong had used to freely detonate sourcebox arrays was quite similar to the method used in the timed microarrays. Yes, Cheng Gong would indeed be regarded as the guilty party.

Ru Mu acted swiftly and immediately contacted Ru Can with a spirit cloudstone. In turn, he immediately contacted the Ark Domain. There was absolutely no hesitation.

Almost immediately, the Ark Domain experienced a drastic change, with its activity returning to the previous, bustling state.

Zhou Duo stared out at the distant battleships with a complicated expression.

A single order had resolved all of the Ark Domain’s problems. That was the ability of the strong.

For all these years, had he been advancing in the wrong direction?

In hindsight, his faction had failed to control the Ark Domain through their own strength.

The strong were the ones who decided everything.

Relying on the Ascendant Hall would not necessarily guarantee their safety.

When Zhou Qian and the others returned, they saw the same level of activity as before, and they all heaved sighs of relief.

“Father, did Ru Can yield?”

The members of the Zhuo family were all staring out at the construction yard. “Work has finally resumed. Just wait, we’ll eliminate them one by one.”

“Nearly half of the cultivators stopped working. While there may not be anything we can do about that, with the foundation of our Ark Domain, it won’t take long for us to replace all of those people.”

“Traitorous scum...”

From the discussions taking place, it was clear that some members of the family had already decided on how to deal with the troublesome cultivators.

However, Zhou Qian just stared at Zhou Duo’s back, feeling uneasy. “Father, is there still a problem?”

Zhou Yin cautiously tugged on the sleeve of his mother, Qiu Shuang. “Is there a problem with the Ascendant Hall?”

Qiu Shuang shook her head. “No, I’ve already explained the situation to Senior Lan, just as we discussed before. Senior Lan understands, and she even told us to be sure to ensure our own safety.”

“Then why is Grandfather acting like that?”

Everyone had noticed Zhou Duo’s strange behavior. No matter what happened in the past, he had always either erupted with fury or cursed loudly. He had never been this calm before.

There was a reason why so many people called him “Zhou the Brute.”

His behavior at this moment was truly different from normal.

“The Ark Domain... no longer belongs to our Zhuo family,” Zhou Duo stated in a low voice.

Zhou Qian and the others were startled by the comment. “Father, what do you mean by that?”

His eyes flickered. “Has Boundless already arrived?”

The plan called for Boundless to compete with Heavenspire for control of the Ark Domain. However, soon after Zhou Qian reported the situation to Seraph Lu, the Ark Domain had already returned to normal. Seraph Lu had also told Zhou Qian that he did not need to worry and could simply return home.

While this deviated from the original plan, seeing the Ark Domain return to normal had made Zhou Qian happy.

Unfortunately, it appeared that things were far from over.

If Boundless had indeed arrived to replace Heavenspire, then things would only get worse.

Zhou Duo’s expression remained grim. “Release a public announcement that the icewood mechanism needs to be upgraded. Recall all universe-class battleships for maintenance and upgrades to extend their lifespan.”

Zhou Qian frowned. "There’s been an upgrade for the icewood mechanism? When?"

As soon as he finished speaking, he instinctively took a step back. He knew better than to question his father's words. Such questions resulted in being slapped. Stepping back was a reflex Zhou Qian had developed throughout the years.

However, the expected slap never came. Zhou Duo continued standing with his back turned to the rest of the family. "Recall all universe-class battleships immediately. We have no time for delays."

The universe-class battleships were the ones that were capable of withstanding the force of a springboard.

The Spirit Nidus possessed an enormous number of battleships, but some could only withstand the force of springboards long enough to make a single round trip to another megaverse. Those were called shuttle-class battleships. With those vessels, the ship would be scrapped after traveling to the Consciousness Megaverse and returning back to the Spirit Nidus. Some might not even make it past Beacon City. There were quite a number of shuttle-class vessels, and all of them were made from extremely valuable materials.

In the past, Cai Jun had returned to the Spirit Nidus aboard a shuttle-class battleship.

Qing Yun and her group had also traveled aboard a shuttle-class battleship, which had been scrapped soon after they returned. There had been an inspection at the Ascendant Hall, and right after that, the ship had been hauled to the Ark Domain to be dismantled.

On the other hand, Emperor Wu, Jiu Xian, and their companions had traveled on a universe-class battleship. Such vessels had no restrictions on repeated use, as they were able to continuously endure the force of the springboards.

When Yi Shang and Bao Qi had traveled to the Tianyuan Megaverse, they had also used such battleships.

Both Boundless and the Ossis Ark were universe-class battleships.

Such vessels were extremely rare due to the scarcity of necessary materials. That alone made mass production nearly impossible. This was one of the major constraints that prevented the Spirit Nidus from declaring all-out war on the Consciousness Megaverse. If possible, countless battleships would have already flooded the Consciousness Megaverse, and it would have never lasted for so long.

Zhou Duo did not know why Ru Can had ordered the universe-class battleships to be recalled to the Ark Domain. All the old man knew was that Boundless had already gotten involved, and yet Ru Can remained in control of the Ark Domain. Whether the command originated with Ru Can himself or with Seraph Lu, Zhou Duo had no idea.

All that he knew was that his Ark Domain was no longer the domain that he had once overseen.

On Boundless, Lu Yin stood at the edge of the Sand Sea, staring off into the shifting sands in the distance.

Every time that Jiang Qi spoke with Ru Mu, he would visit the Sand Sea afterwards, as though believing that the sand could cleanse the filth from his body.

Jiang Qi was able to brush karma aside, rendering it ineffective against him. In that case, what would happen when Heaven’s Blade struck that karma?

Lu Yin took a step forward and arrived in front of Jiang Qi.

The young man looked up, and immediately offered a deep bow. “G- Greetings, Third Boss.”

With a casual wave of a hand, Lu Yin summoned Heaven’s Blade and attacked Jiang Qi.

The sword appeared quickly, yet it moved slowly. It was slow enough for Jiang Qi to clearly see the attack, think about it, and even evade it.

However, Jiang Qi did not dodge. He stared blankly at the approaching blade, seemingly incapable of moving.

As Heaven’s Blade descended, Jiang Qi was struck by an unprecedented sense of despair. He could not understand why the Third Boss would attack him. Why deal with him when he had been quietly digging in the sand?

Lu Yin stared at Jiang Qi as Heaven’s Blade struck. The sword struck the blanket, yet nothing unusual happened.

Heaven’s Blade vanished, as did Lu Yin.

Jiang Qi rubbed his eyes. Where did he go? Where’s the sword? Did I imagine it all?

Lu Yin had already left the Sand Sea. Heaven’s Blade had revealed nothing about Jiang Qi. The young man was simply too strange. Still, one day, the truth would be revealed.

Lu Yin went to find Ru Mu.

She was in the process of calculating the next location that Heavenspire would appear in. She intended to betray Heavenspire and lead Lu Yin inside.

The entrance to Heavenspire was not in a fixed position, which made it incredibly difficult to reach. To begin with, outsiders were unable to even locate the entrance. On top of that, the entrance was continuously drifting around, near the Ascendant Hall, which meant that even sneaking in necessitated avoiding the Ascendant Hall’s notice.

With the High Seraph overseeing things, infiltration became nearly impossible.

Even after countless years, no one had ever managed to enter Heavenspire.

Ru Mu was taking a great risk. Even she would call her actions a betrayal.

It was at this moment that Lu Yin realized something. Of the seven lands of karma that he had seen, while he had assumed that one was centered on Heavenspire, that was not actually the case.

The land of karma was merely centered on the region that Heavenspire controlled and where its cultivators appeared most frequently. The land was not centered on Heavenspire itself.

This matched with what Lu Yin knew of the Lesser Spirit Megaverse.

It was clearly an entire megaverse, so how could it exist within the Spirit Nidus? Such a thing was hard to comprehend.

However, a new question had since arisen: what of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse?

Both Jiu Xian and Old Yu both claimed that the Nine Odysseys Megaverse existed within the Spirit Nidus, stating that the megaverse was up above. Lu Yin had indeed seen something up above them, but how did one reach that place? What was the connection between the two? He had started to wonder if their connection was similar to the one between the Tianyuan Megaverse’s Origin Universe and the Perennial World. However, after considering things thoroughly, Lu Yin had dismissed that idea. The two situations were completely different.

The Perennial World and the Origin Universe could be regarded as parallel universes, while the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and the Spirit Nidus were two separate megaverses. The concepts were not at all the same.

“How is it?” Lu Yin asked from behind.

Ru Mu was intently studying a star chart, very focused on it.

Lu Yin was in no hurry, and he waited nearby.

After a while, the woman’s eyes lit up. “It’ll be there!”

“Where?” Lu Yin asked curiously.

Ru Mu smiled at Lu Yin. “You’ll never guess, Boss. Right now, the entrance to Heavenspire is in the Morrow Behemoth’s hand.”

Lu Yin arched a brow. In its hand?

Just as he was about to speak, a sudden chill struck his head.

Up above Boundless, space had started to collapse with a deep rumble. A power could be seen falling down, seemingly connecting heaven and earth to form a black tornado or a giant hand that reached into Boundless, grabbing for Ru Mu.

Lu Yin’s pupils instantly shrank. The High Seraph?

He did not think any further before releasing his consciousness and all the layers of the Nine Heavens. Heaven’s Blade was released in an instant.

Elsewhere, the Origin Progenitor appeared as well, also revealing the Nine Heavens. A terrifying aura instantly swept through the universe, spreading out across the entire Hundred Grasses Domain and shaking the Spirit Nidus to its core.

Nine weapons appeared from the Origin Progenitor’s Nine Heavens. Six were his swords, while the other three were weapons that he had nurtured with Verdant Eternity.

The nine weapons fused into one. This was the ultimate technique that the Origin Progenitor had developed while cultivating the Nine Heavens Transformation; he had merged it with his own Verdant Eternity, forming the Verdant Arsenal.

Lu Yin’s Heaven’s Blade and the Origin Progenitor’s Verdant Heavenly Arsenal were released in unison, and both of them slashed at the black tornado that pierced the sky.

The High Seraph was taking action against Boundless from across more than half of the Spirit Nidus. He was not attacking Lu Yin, or even the Origin Progenitor. In fact, no one from the Tianyuan Megaverse aboard Boundless was being targeted. His sole target was Ru Mu.

She was completely enveloped by the black tornado and was already in mid-air. She looked up, but there was no fear in her eyes. All that could be seen was resentment and bloodlust.

Her expression sent chills down Lu Yin’s spine. Something was terribly off. How could Ru Mu not fear the High Seraph’s power? At that moment, even Lu Yin was overcome by a sense of icy dread.

Despite that, all that could be seen in the woman’s eyes was her desire to kill, even while facing indescribable pressure.

The black tornado was sliced apart, and Ru Mu plummeted downward. Suddenly, a solitary streak of black light fell from outer space, instantly piercing through Ru Mu.

Lu Yin and the Origin Progenitor both tried to intervene, but it was already too late.

This was the High Seraph’s true attack, and after the black light pierced through Ru Mu, it continued straight on towards Lu Yin.

He swung a hand, releasing Heaven’s Blade again. The sword was an attack that ignored the process and struck only at the results. The black light was directly struck, but while it trembled, it was not entirely severed. A bit of residual force stabbed at Lu Yin.

Beside him, the Origin Progenitor extended a single finger. His Verdant Heavenly Arsenal shrank down countless times and then followed the tip of his finger to strike the black light, shattering it entirely.

The moment the black light was destroyed, the two men saw sequence particles dissipate.

Lu Yin watched the sequence particles scatter like fireflies. He knew exactly what he was seeing: Everlasting Will. This was the High Seraph’s Transcended Sequence.
