System's POV
Chapter 1049 - 1049: Have You Woken Up From Your Daydream? [Part 2]“Everyone, please calmly listen to what I am about to say,” Thirteen opened the emergency line, so all the Wanderers would be informed of the talks he had with the Crown Prince of the Dragonkin.
“The Dragonkins had discovered our evacuation plan. However, all of you have nothing to worry about. Evacuate in a calm and orderly manner. I will deal with the Dragonkins, so focus on what you need to do and not worry about them.
“All the Monarchs and Thrones, please standby to intercept the small fries that might slip through. I trust that you will be able to handle them well.”
Lawrence, Arthur, Douglas, Wendell, and Trevor glanced at each other before nodding their heads at the same time.
They were already guarding the locations where the Jinns might attack their convoys, so they were prepared to handle the small fries that Thirteen was talking about.
Rocky, Zed, Khan, Harahon, Lord Zorca, Evuvug, Ossan, and the rest of the Thirteen’s monster army were also mobilized to deal with Rank 8 monsters and below.
“Prioritize your safety, everyone,” Thirteen said. “If you think that your lives are in any danger, you have my permission to escape. I will handle the rest.”
The teenage boy knew that casualties were very normal in wars. However, he didn’t want those who were important to him to be part of those casualties.
This was also the reason why he didn’t reject the proposal of building a naval fortress that the wanderers could use as a base to attack and flee from their enemies.
The Wanderers listened in silence as Thirteen’s voice echoed from every communication device.
Despite the weight of the announcement, there was a strange calm in the air.
His tone wasn’t at all panicked. On the contrary, it was solid and unwavering.
The kind of voice that didn’t just give orders, but carried the quiet confidence that everything would be okay.
“That’s what makes my no-good grandson amazing,” Arthur muttered under his breath as he gripped his sword and shield tightly. “He always sounds like he’s sure he’ll win.”
Lawrence chuckled. “He usually does. We’ve seen it first hand.”
Nearby, Wendell and Douglas activated the protective seals around the supply trucks, while Trevor casted a wide-range detection ward across the canyon pass.
The Monarchs were already in position, ready to intercept the “small fries” that might break through from Zion’s defensive lines.
Above them, aerial units piloted by elite Wanderers patrolled the skies, watching for anything too fast to be caught on radar.
They might be weaker than the Monarchs, but they, too, were Wanderers, who wished to protect their comrades.
The Monarchs and the Thrones understood that, so they didn’t ask them to leave.
The majority of them were paying close attention to their communicators, which displayed the map of the Cygni Continent.
Countless blinking dots were flying from the center of the continent and were now headed southwest.
The moment the Dragonkin Army mobilized, Thirteen contacted Jubei.
He had no intention of letting the Dragonkins get near the Wanderers, so he would take the initiative to make them understand where his confidence was coming from.
“Jubei, fire at will,” Thirteen ordered. His voice was cold, and without mercy.
“Yes, Master!” Jubei replied before giving out an order to start charging the main canons of Nautilus.
(A/N: Poor William.)
Half a minute later, two beams of devastating light streaked across the skies of the Cygni Continent.
The Wanderers, who had no idea what it was, watched in awe as the beam passed over their heads.
Arthur and Lawrence exchanged glances with each other, recognizing that the beam of light had come from the giant submarine under Thirteen’s control.
They had been given the blueprint of Project Nemo, and despite being weaker than Nautilus, these smaller submarines also packed a punch that would make the Jinns understand that the technology of the Wanderers was nothing to scoff at.
———
Ten miles away from Velmusa City…
The Dragonkins rose up in the sky, roaring to inform everyone that their mighty army was on the move.
Prince Zepharion snorted before crossing his arms over his chest. “I hope Zion will give these fools a proper beating.”
“I wish for that as well,” Princess Xynalia commented.
She didn’t know why, but she felt extreme anger when Prince Aurelion looked down on Zion. Even more so when the Dragonkin called the latter a weak, and pathetic human who only relied on schemes to dupe the Jinns into becoming his allies.
If not for the fact that she understood the consequences of berating the Dragonkin Prince in front of his subjects, she would have already said something long ago.
Prince Zorren, who was calmly looking at the Dragonkin Army, suddenly chuckled as if he had received some good news from his Master.
“What’s wrong?” Prince Xylen asked. “What’s funny?”
“Just watch,” Prince Zorren replied in a mysterious tone. “We are going to see some fireworks.”
The leaders of the other Jinn Factions overheard Prince Zorren’s words and wondered what he meant by fireworks.
A few seconds later, they finally understood what the Prince was trying to say as a flash of light streaked across the sky and pierced through the Dragonkin Army.
It happened so fast that those who had perished didn’t even have the chance to scream before they were completely turned into ashes by Nautilus’ full-powered attack.
Jubei didn’t hold back and cranked up Nautilus to its limit.
After many trials and errors, they found out that Nautilus could now unleash three devastating attacks without worrying about overheating its main cannons.
Of course, if they attacked a fourth time, the cannons would finally overheat, and they would need to wait for at least two days to cool it down.
However, Thirteen had no intention of forcing the main cannons to overheat.
He just wanted Prince Aurelion to know the consequences of looking down on him, which he proved through actions, not words.
Athena might be down right now, but Nautilus was still here.
As long as they were within its firing range, even a Majin Prince would have a high chance of dying once hit directly by its beam strike.
“What in the name of the Ancient Gods was that?!” Prince Xylen asked in disbelief, his voice shaking in fear, and surprise. “It wiped out entire battalions!”
Prince Zorren didn’t answer. He simply stared while smiling faintly, looking at the aftermath of the attack that unfolded before them.
Entire battalions had vanished in an instant.
Dozens of elite Draconic Warriors had been reduced to ash before they could even roar.
Those who weren’t directly hit by the beam of light also suffered damage.
The monstrous wyverns spiraled out of the sky like flaming comets, crashing to the ground in smoking heaps.
Even if they managed to survive, they would not be able to mobilize at this point in time.
Prince Aurelion, who had been sitting on a flying ship, which was the flagship of their army, couldn’t help but crush the armrest of his throne after witnessing such a scene.
Suddenly, he remembered Prince Zepharion’s reminder before he left for this expedition against the Wanderers.
“Try your best not to die, okay?” Prince Zepharion said. “I want to see if you can still be arrogant after your first battle with Zion Leventis.”
The attack just now had killed over a thousand of his troops, and it all happened without warning.
For the first time since crossing over to Pangea, Prince Aurelion’s confidence took a hit.
He had read the information about Zion Leventis, as well as the legendary feats that he had done.
Prince Aurelion treated them all as rubbish, fabricated tales to make the teenage boy become famous.
But now, he was starting to think that maybe, just maybe, those stories were true.
If that was really the case, then he might be facing someone that even he and his mighty army would not be able to defeat on their own.
Suddenly, his communicator made a notification sound.
Athena had hacked into it, so Prince Aurelion didn’t even need to do anything before Thirteen’s projection appeared in front of him.
“Have you woken up from your daydream?” Thirteen asked. “If not, then should I give you another wake up call? This time, it will no longer be a warning shot. I will aim directly at you. Do you think you can dodge it?”
The teenage boy smirked, making the confident and arrogant Dragonkin Prince clench his fist in anger.
He wanted to shout “is that your best?”, but he held back. Zion Leventis clearly said that it was just a “warning shot”.
If the teenage boy had something more powerful than that attack, then he might not only lose a battalion or two on this day.
He might even lose his life.
The mere thought of dying without being able to do anything made the Dragonkin Prince’s heart skip a beat.
A moment later, he gritted his teeth, and talked to the teenage boy in a tone that no longer contained his previous confidence, and arrogance.
