Rex choked at the possibility.
He was reaching for possible conclusions from the information at hand.
And the chance the Angels working together with the Fourthborn is not a far stretch.
In ancient times—the Ancient Humans were probably the reason why the Angels perished, and even though Void has clearly abandoned the teachings of the old, and was aspiring to the realm of Origin, he might not stoop so low to work together with an Ancient Human.
For someone who once felt unimaginable hatred, Rex was certain of this.
Regardless of the Angels' old ways, Void definitely still holds the Angel Origin in high regard.
Going as far as working together with an Ancient Human is unlikely for him.
Above stopping to seek revenge on the person, who created the scar, working together with the person was way harder. So Void working with the Fourthborn is still unlikely. But the only ones who have a solid connection with Chaos are the Executors and that opens up the sheer possibility of them working together.
As of this moment, Rex didn't know how the Fourthborn would come back into the world.
Maybe like the Fifthborn, he was sealed somewhere hidden.Or maybe, the method would be completely different.
It was still unclear but Rex assumed that he was most likely trapped somewhere.
Since the Fourthborn could possess the Fifthborn's body, he must be conscious so he wasn't sealed somewhere. Because of that—the most likely scenario was he was trapped and being inside the Chaos realm could surely trap someone as strong as the Fourthborn.
No matter, this could wait—I need to move first.
Rex has no time for conspiracies, he needs to move quickly if he wants to survive.
"Prof. K," He called with a stern voice. "bring a convoy and bring these two to the Symposium of Upper Divinities, the Fifthborn's grave. Find out more about that thing—in the parchment, I want to be informed once I come back. Bring Flunra with you, he would be able to help"
Although he hated going out, Prof. K nodded—accepting the task.
"W- What about Catherine?" Radiel asked, seeing that Rex was not including her.
Prof. K intervened, "I'll have Giana watch her transformation"
"Do that," Rex nodded in approval, that would be the best course to deal with Catherine.
Finding that he was being ignored, Radiel put his arm in front of Catherine, "We're not leaving her behind. If we're going to the Symposium, or whatever that place is called then she should also come with us!"
Before Rex had the chance to respond, Eryndor already shook his head at Radiel.
"Are you suggesting that it's okay to leave her here?" Radiel complained.
Catherine was shaking right now—finding that her body began to show signs of being turned into a Dark Angel was a terrifying realization. At this second, she needed a console the most, and leaving her here wouldn't do her any good.
Seeing this drama, Rex spoke up, "She's insurance"
"Insurance? What do yo-"
"Do you expect me to believe that you would put my interest above all, out there?"
Upon hearing this, Radiel pursed his lips—he couldn't find any answer to that.
"She stays here," Rex finally said. "If you want her to be fine, bring good information"
Rex headed out of the room with Evelyn following closely behind—the Angels had proved to be an imminent threat but even so, there were still pressing matters he needed to attend to, matters that involved immediate life-and-death.
He would make his move against the Angels once he came back. Experience tales at empire
Once he healed Nivellen and saved himself from being killed by the System.
Anything other than that has to be postponed as if he failed inside the Spirit Realm, the other matters would become meaningless. But even so, Rex needs to make preparations, before he can depart.
Ascending the staircase behind, Evelyn couldn't help but ask.
Rex had things to do but he hadn't told her what those things were.
"Care to tell me what you needed to accomplish before your departure? Me—and the others could help if you tell us"
"For now, I want you to tell Lauren and Daniel to amass several scouting parties to search for any sign of Chaos incursion. We need to find out more, about Chaos, since it could be tied to the Fourthborn. Just locate, don't confront them"
"I can do that easily but are the other things? Tell me so I can do something"
Recalling the moment he had with the others earlier, Rex decided to tell her the matters.
As time was against his side, he needed help.
"I need to go with Iris to meet with the Tabaxis, and make sure they do not fall to the Angels. Also, I need to go to the Werewolf Kingdom to claim my throne and enhance the defenses of our city. I have to finish all of this in four days, before my departure"
Out of the three, the Tabaxis problem was the most pressing problem.
Rex needed to make contact with the Tabaxis and he needed to head there himself.
Based on what Iris said, losing the Tabaxis to the Angels would be extremely costly.
Had the Tabaxis decided to band together with the Angels, Rex feared that the Angels would begin their siege to kingdoms affiliated with him, while he was away. It would be devastating, if he returned to some of his allies crushed.
Not to mention, losing the Tabaxis would result in defeating the Angels more difficult.
As much as he prioritizes the Fourthborn, he couldn't neglect the Angels.
Especially now that there was a chance of the Angels working together with the Fourthborn.
"If it's a meeting, I could represent you to meet with the Tabaxis" Evelyn offered.
She was the Empress of the Clarentium Empire, and that alone made her the best figure that could represent Rex. But even then, Rex shook his head, "It's too dangerous, the Tabaxis are very closer to the Angels than to us. It has to be me who met with them"
"Then I'll handle the Werewolf Kingdom," Evelyn said with conviction.
Upon hearing this, Rex stopped and turned to look at her.
"Don't tell me that it is dangerous," Evelyn pressed further, her tone laced with confidence. "I am not a kid, I can handle myself. If you're worried then I'll bring Gistella and Adhara with me, they should be enough assurance for you"
"Even if you did, can you handle the Werewolves?" Rex raised an eyebrow.
Going to the Scarlet Banes Kingdom wasn't only for a simple visit.
It would be a struggle for the throne.
Princess Selene was on the opposing side—who don't want Rex to sit, on the throne, coaxing other Alpha Primes to be on her side. Of course, suffering defeat by the Silverstar Pack in the Bloodstone Crater would make them hesitant to go for violence but still, it wouldn't be easy.
And even then, there's still a chance of a battle breaking out.
"Compared to meeting the Tabaxis, I'm more confident in this one" Evelyn replied.
Rex was still dubious but seeing the light behind her red eyes, he somehow trusted her.
Seems like she has something up her sleeves that backs her confidence.
"Okay," Rex nodded. "I'll fill you in on what you need to say and do to those Werewolves"
Before making his leave for the Tabaxis, Rex called Flunra to the throne room.
Like the shadow of the chandelier, on the throne room's ceiling—Flunra instantly came to the throne room when he was called. He knelt down on one knee and asked, "Is there something you need me to do?"
"Yes, you will be going with Prof. K to escort the three Angels"
"So I've heard"
"Prof. K would watch over those Angels while you... your task is to bring the God Slayer, and also the Passue Matriarch here. Since the great war, the matriarch is inactive so it should be fine to carry her here while the God Slayer, tries finding it but it's not a top priority"
"I'll do exactly as you said"
Being given the task of collecting God Slayer and the Passue Matriarch was something scary.
Even Flunra's heart skipped a beat when he heard his tasks.
But even then, he wouldn't hesitate as long as Rex wanted him to do it.
Once I finish healing Nivellen and upgrading Devo and Amanir's aptitude, I should be able to reach the tenth-rank realm. By that time, I could turn the Passue Matriarch—overwriting her from being a member of the First Human Sovereign's pack to mine.
Since my bloodline would evolve by then, this is perfect.
"Don't worry about dying. As long as Caraptaros is fine, you will be fine" Rex assured.
He has little worries now that Caraptaros was on his side.
It was the reason why Rex would let Evelyn and the others go out more freely than before.
Once he directed Flunra, Evelyn excused herself to inform Adhara and Gistella that they were going to the Scarlet Banes Kingdom to meet with Prince Alaric. However—before she left Rex stopped her.
"Bring him with you," Rex said.
Finding nobody here aside from Flunra, Evelyn was puzzled, "Bring who?"
Instead of answering, Rex took off the Royal Black Cloak and activated the Banished Dark Moon pendant effect by throwing the cloak to the ground. Soon, a tower of kingly energy, climbed from the inside of the cloak until it formed another person—Rex.
Upon seeing this, Evelyn rolled her eyes, "We don't need a babysitter"
"Babysit?" Rex chuckled. "How would I claim my throne, without me being there? Don't worry, this clone of mine would not meddle—and get in your way. He will stand there as an observer while you take the stand"
As soon as he said that, the banished clone turned to Evelyn.
"I'll be in your care," He said before the corner of his lips curled into a smile. "My Empress..."
"Ooph..." Evelyn blushed a little. "t-the pleasure is mine"
Compared to Rex's lunar clone, the clone from the Royal Black Cloak, retained his King Mark as well as—has a separate consciousness. Rex could only tell it what to do, but he could not control it directly.
It was stronger, more durable, and had the Banished Dark Moon King Mark.
Once he did that, Evelyn finally went to the others—bringing the clone along with her.
Moments later, after giving the others instructions, Rex spares a moment to meet Calidora.
She was excited to see him and the two talked for a moment.
Due to the growing life within her—her complexion had grown paler—than the usual vampiric feature that she had, and even her blood aura seemed to wane, drawn in by the unborn child that was sucking the life out of her.
Rex was worried for her health, but she assured her that she was fine.
She explained that the effects come and go.
Most of the time, they left her feeling nothing more than an overwhelming sleepiness.
And when asked if this was normal in a Vampire's pregnancy phase, she shook her head.
But she was not worried.
"It's our child," Calidora said with a weak smile, lying on the bed without her usual energy. "It is bound to be different, stronger if I had to say... No matter what, I will give birth to a strong and powerful child that embodies you and me"
Upon hearing this, Rex hesitantly nodded, "More of you and less of me, I hope..."
Once he said that—he stood up to leave again.
He already told Calidora the gist of it and she told him to do what he has to do.
Reaching outside of the castle, Rex looked skyward and inhaled deeply.
"Mavenna..." He called in a whisper.
Despite that, a Demoness appeared out of thin air—it was Mavenna.
She was bound to him so she had no choice but to answer every call that came from him.
"What is it now? I hope it's nothing more than a slight hassle"
"Contact Elder Tilrith and arrange a meeting right now, I want to speak with her"
"Ah... that's a lot more than a slight hassle"
Receiving a sharp gaze from Rex, Mavenna reached for her neck instinctively and sweated.
Having no other choice, she grabbed Rex's hand and they both puffed into pink smoke.
