The Invincible Full-Moon System
Chapter 1407: Arriving at Zahara ConsortiumKnowing how bad and tragic their history was, Iris could easily tell how this could end badly.
At this moment, the Angels were becoming a threat to the entire continent.
It was an undeniable fact.
Demons were pressuring the Angels on the frontline due to the bad blood between them.
Under the relentless siege—and skirmishes from the Demons—the Angels were beginning to be pushed back, and falter, their momentum steadily eroding. However, that could change. If the other high-rank Supernatural races remained on the sidelines, it could get bad.
No doubt, the Angels could retaliate and sustain their roots on this continent.
Once that happened, Void would certainly send more Angels to cross over the seas.
Dealing with the current battalions of Angels alone was already hard, so if that happened, if more battalions led by more Archangels came or even Void himself stepped into this land, it would be catastrophic.
For now, the Demons had that covered.
As long as they were attacking the Angels, it would be hard for them to stand on their feet.Keeping their grounds and protecting their Heaven would be extremely difficult.
So while the Demons were dealing with that, Rex decided that he would also make a move of his own as a preventive action. If the Angels did manage to survive on this continent—there's one thing that they would aim for next.
And that's the Saltura Bridge.
If Elder Tilrith and the Demons failed, standing between the Angels, and their advancement across the entire continent was the Saltura Bridge. A structure—that was under the Zahara Consortium's reign.
From the intel, the bridge was irreplaceable.
It was the only way to cross over a massive mile-wide crack.
Since the Tabaxis controlled this bridge, they became a huge piece of this confrontation.
Rex would attempt to pull the Tabaxis into his side—and think about the better good for the continent, which was to get rid of the Angels. Since his side was now attacked, Naela being the victim, he had to make a response.
Getting the Tabaxis to his side wasn't his response to the Angels.
Instead, it was his first step before making an appropriate response.
Iris, as the unbiased point-of-view in this equation, knew what Rex wanted to do.
And she also knew that Rex would do anything to make the Zahara Consortium pledge to his side, the Clarentium Empire. But to do that, he needed to play smart. Iris feared that with the pressure on Rex's back, he would make a mistake that would cost the continent.
Had Rex demanded subservient from the Tabaxis, any route for peace would vanished.
Unlike mid or high-rank Supernaturals, the Tabaxis has never had a kingdom.
In their entire history, this was the best position their race had ever been.
Most of them in the past lived in groups and clans, scattered around the world with their own Origin centered in one place—under the Ancient Human. So, one could only imagine, how the Tabaxis were feeling right now.
Because of that, Iris insisted on Rex coming to meet them himself.
Other than showing sincerity, it would also make them feel valued.
If Rex reframed his approach, shifting from pulling the Tabaxis into the Clarentium Empire to proposing a partnership or alliance instead, the Tabaxis would find no offense—in his words and would have little reason to reject the proposal.
However, if Rex insisted, he would make it easier for the Angels to coax the Tabaxis.
Doing that was the same as asking the Tabaxis to be a slave to someone else again.
As a rising force, they wouldn't take it lightly.
It wouldn't do any good for them.
Iris was trying to make Rex see that.
And to truly understand that, Rex would need to know about their history first.
"Because of that, I insist you in going to meet with them," Iris explained with a firm tone.
Upon hearing her explanation, Rex nodded his head in understanding.
She's right—Having their entire race enslaved for hundreds if not a thousand years—it would be weird if they weren't sensitive about these things. Had I sent an emissary who wasn't that close to me, proposing an alliance would've seemed ungenuine.
Initially, Rex planned on sending one of the Dark Elves to meet with the Tabaxis.
But he now understands that if he did that, the Tabaxis would side with the Angels instead.
"Is there anything more I need to know about their history?"
"I think that's about it"
"What about their ruler? Who is he? Do you know his background?"
Iris pondered for a second.
She recalled the intel from the sentries, vaguely remembering the ruler being mentioned.
"Oh!" Iris yelped, her eyes rounded. "I remembered, they have two rulers—twins. Serevia and Serevan. Both of them became the rulers because they were the ones who grew the Tabaxis into what they are now"
"And their background?" Rex asked again.
Knowing their background would greatly help him when their discussion starts.
It has always been a must to know exactly who he was talking to.
Upon hearing this, Iris pondered again—trying to think if there was anything she knew more.
"If I'm not mistaken, Serevia was once a slave to an Ancient Human aristocrat" She added.
Rex smiled acutely when he heard this, "An Ancient Human, huh..."
From that alone, it was clear that Serevia was going to be a problem. Her hatred, for Humans was evident—and given Rex's origins—she would likely be hostile toward him. Unfortunately, shifting into his Werewolf form wasn't an option.
It was too threatening, the Zahara Consortium might thought they were being attacked.
Having no other option, Rex could only hope for the best.
Several hours later, Rex sensed that the Order Beasts had dispersed.
He and Iris wasted no time to continue on their way—passing by the flatland.
Fortunately for them, other than those Order Beasts, nothing stood in their way, again, it was smooth sailing until they reached a massive snowy expanse. A dominion was nearby and this expanse was affected by it because of that.
Currently, they were already quite close to the Zahara Consortium.
Rex thought they would arrive longer because he took into account fighting some beasts.
Now that there were no beasts barring his way, they arrived here in one and a half days.
Stopping the black panther Rex and Iris looked around.
It wasn't the dominion or the expanse that captured their attention.
As opposed to that, they were more focused on the rough breaths of the black panther.
"It's more tiring to keep upright here," Iris commented—a frown crossing her face. "I think the gravity around this area was also being influenced by the nearby dominion. But we should be able to reach the Tabaxis before the sun is up still"
Upon hearing this, Rex stepped down from the black panther and crouched down.
He wiped the thick snow and placed his hand directly on the earth.
<Notice: the user is correct!>
A notification appeared from the System, confirming his guess.
"Instead of the dominion, it was the Gravitational Rift..." Rex muttered as he stood back up.
But Arcane Ring, on the other hand, was known for having gravity amplified or lessened.
A few days ago, when Rex met Elder Tilrith, he learned about the Arcane Ring, a region with peculiar, gravitational anomalies. It was similar to the Ring of Fire that was renowned, for its seismic, and volcanic activity.
Arcane Ring, on the other hand, was infamous for its unpredictable shifts in gravity.
Either amplifying or diminishing it dramatically.
"So that's the case..." Iris nodded—she seemed to also know about this.
Rex sensed a Gravitational Rift in the ground that doubled the gravity around this area.
As a result, the black panther had to expend more energy to carry them, leaving it panting heavily. But with their destination now close—Rex climbed back onto its back and urged it forward.
Moving along a couple of miles, Rex and Iris were met with rock formations.
It was a rough terrain to go through.
Coupled with the increase in gravity, it took the black panther half an hour to reach the top.
However, once they reached the top—their eyes caught sight of a surprising sight.
"Oh my Origin, I knew about this but seeing it first-hand is still quite surprising"
"Seems like the Tabaxis has really turned their fate around"
Upon reaching the other side, Rex and Iris were greeted by yet another vast snowy expanse.
A flat, glistening terrain stretching endlessly before them, a frosty sea of white.
Far ahead, the land dropped off sharply, ending at a colossal cliff that marked the very edge of the horizon. Dominating the view, was a massive castle, perched near the cliff's edge—its towering spires and heavy stone walls radiant a fresh and new, unyielding power.
Built into the castle's base was the entrance to a bridge.
Judging from its size and marvel of engineering, this must be the infamous Saltura Bridge.
It stretched across the abyss to the other side of the world.
However, more captivating than the bridge was the strange, shimmering path.
It began at the entrance of the castle and stretched out like a snake, a tube-like construct of pure energy that coiled across the snowy expanse, glowing faintly in shifting hues. Rex—and Iris followed the length of it and realized that it stretched for miles toward the east.
At the edge, the path's end vanished behind another rock formation.
Focusing back on the path, Rex and Iris could see the silhouettes of bustling activity.
Hundreds of individuals rode within it, bringing along their carriages of varying shapes—and sizes. Even from the distance, Rex and Iris could make out some figures like Drayds adorned in leaf-like cloaks, glimmering Pixies flying along with their cart, hulking Grerndels pulling on heavy wagons, and chattering Goblins bartering even mid-journey.
Other low and mid-rank Supernaturals races also mingled along with them.
Traders of all kinds moved with purpose, the path brimming with life and commerce.
It was a refreshing sight in the icy wilderness.
"A business empire," Rex's eyes narrowed. "the Tabaxis now hold a high standing"
Even though it was a refreshing sight, this could also mean troubles in their discussion later.
Once he inspected the view, he turned to Iris.
Upon seeing this and knowing what that look meant—Iris shook her head, "I don't have any sentries standing by, Your Majesty. We would need to mingle—with the masses to enter. Or naturally, if you want to announce your visit, we could also do that"
Rex contemplated for a moment.
If I really want to be quick, announcing myself is the way to go—instead of queuing, with the mass. But I need more information before talking with them, I should look around first before meeting with the twin rulers.
Nodding his head, Rex tapped the black panther as they descended down to the queue.
Reaching the side of the translucent path, Rex stopped the black panther and observed the path. He used the System's enhanced scanning feature—and saw multiple holographic tabs appearing with information written inside them.
Seeing this, Rex squinted his eyes.
It's a sophisticated path that could block the Gravitational Rift's influence. Convenient.
Just then, a group of Grendels inside saw them.
Assuming that it was Rex and Iris' first time being here—they quickly pointed to the east.
"Why do they look angry?" Iris commented from behind.
Rex shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly, "I think they're afraid that we would cut queue, it's not uncommon around here I think. Seeing us riding this beautiful beast—they were afraid of us"
Since they arrived earlier than expected, they had time to observe.
"We should've left our mount behind, we're quite eye-catching aren't we?" Rex mused.
Pivoting the black panther to the east, Rex prepared to go to the very start of the queue.
Just then, however, a voice called out to them.
"Hey! Stop there!"
Upon hearing this, Rex stopped the black panther before slowly turning around.
He saw quite a strong Tabaxi in plated armor, landing beside them out of nowhere.
Keeping a stern look, the Tabaxi approached them and squinted his eyes, "Who are you? And what brings you here?"
