It wasn’t the Blood Moon’s light that the Alpha Primes were talking about.
No.
Instead, they were talking about the light of rage.
Kyran was bound in chains by the Shamans, helpless, but his deadly gaze didn’t wane.
His power was already drained, but this anger persists.
Shock and doubt mixed into one, and unconsciously, the slender Alpha Prime turned to the Shamans.
Then, he raised his brows, asking the Shamans through silent words.
In response, the Shamans nodded grimly.
Just that nod alone told the slender Alpha Prime everything.
Back in the ancient era, the Shamans were highly respected—even though they weren’t Alphas because they fulfilled one important role. Every time a Werewolf went berserk, the Alphas were there to keep them in check.
If that was the case, then who checked the Alphas when they went berserk?
A Luna’s presence helped, but most of the time, when a strong Alpha, mainly Alpha Primes, went red, the Lunas needed help. And the Shamans were there to aid them, all because of one passed-down ability that only Shamans could read, learn, and replicate.
The Bind of Dravanya.
A powerful, timeless ability that could absorb the rage of a Werewolf, no matter how strong.
Even the Origin could be influenced by this ability.
But it doesn’t work on Kyran.
No, not that it doesn’t work—the ability was effective and drained Kyran’s anger until there was none remaining, but for some reason, he was still berserk. The Shamans couldn’t do anything since his rage was supposed to be empty already.
Kyran laughed louder with his red shimmering eyes.
Laughing at the Alpha Primes.
A manic, wild, blood-choked laughter that echoed across the battlefield like an ancient curse.
Even then, the Alpha Prime stood across him with confidence, towering, seemingly unbothered.
But Kyran knew better; he could sense their worry, and his laughter only grew because of that.
Then, his voice, guttural and rasped with madness, cut through the tension.
“Do you know who I am?”
He asked amidst his laughter, eyes darting from one Alpha Prime to the next.
None of them answered.
None of them has to.
Kyran knew that they should already know him by now.
“Do you know who I am?!”
He repeated, louder, a twisted grin spreading on his bloodstained lips as he tilted his chin up and ripped the fabric around his chest area—revealing the silver star seared into his chest, shimmering with power, but more importantly, with authority.
Everyone knew what that mark was, it was the Silverstar Pack’s mark.
“You can’t kill me. You can’t kill me!”
He roared, voice cracking with condescension and triumph.
“I’m the second member of the pack! I’m Kyran of the Silverstar Pack!”
“You can’t kill me!”
Kyran’s laughter returned, harder, more unhinged as he threw his head back and laughed in their faces.
Despite being in the heart of the enemy camp, surrounded from all sides, he didn’t need to be afraid for his life. None of these Werewolves, not even the Alpha Primes, would dare to touch him. It came to him when he saw the Alpha Primes’ faces.
Clearly, they were confused as to what to do with Kyran.
His presence in this battle was expected, but not like this.
Killing Kyran was out of the options; capturing Kyran might also be the wrong move as the Empress was unpredictable, and letting him go would also be damaging their reputation. All of the Alpha Primes understood those implications, and that made them even more frustrated.
Had it not been for that, they would’ve killed Kyran already.
“I’ve had enough of him! I’m going to kill him!”
“No, you can’t. Don’t get provoked. He’s trying to make us make a mistake.”
“Then are we supposed to take this insult?!”
“No, we’re going to take him as hostage. We’ll have to take a gamble against the Empress.”
Upon hearing this, Kyran laughed harder.
Then, he turned to Krynda, who was held back by two Alpha Primes on either side.
“Did you hear what they said, Krynda? I infiltrated the city, blackmailed you, and killed your precious Luna, and they talked about taking me in as a hostage instead of killing me! HAHAHA~! Are you really fine with that?”
Growling in anger, Krynda tried to break free.
His anger was still rising, making him stronger by the second.
But the two Alpha Primes were more than strong enough to keep him from doing anything reckless.
Even then, Kyran didn’t stop and turned to the other Alpha Primes.
“Did you know? I blackmailed him with his Luna, telling him to betray all of you, and he accepted it! It was a bluff from my part, but he actually accepted it! Even his Luna died being disappointed in him for doing that.”
Naturally, the other Alpha Primes frowned and turned to Krynda.
All of them don’t want to trust Kryan’s words, but Krynda’s reaction made it hard not to trust him.
It was Krynda who met Kyran first, so this might really be true.
“Don’t listen to him,” the slender Alpha Prime growled, snapping the other Alpha Primes from looking at Krynda with evident unfriendliness. “Don’t take the bait. Krynda is a respectable Alpha Prime, one who was even higher ranked than us. He wouldn’t!”
Realizing that his words weren’t enough, he turned and walked over to Kyran.
He was going to pull Kyran’s tongue out so that he wouldn’t spew more nonsense.
Kyran ignored the slender Alpha Prime and stared straight at Krynda fearlessly, tauntingly.
“It’s a good thing I killed her when I did. I’d almost feel sorry if she had to witness how pathetic you are right now. An Alpha Prime who can’t avenge his own Luna, you’re not worthy of that title, Krynda. You’re no Alpha Prime… you’re no Alpha at all.”
Krynda’s heart skipped a beat.
All of those words stabbed through his pride like a burning dagger.
Rumble!
Suddenly, the ground began to shake hard.
Violent pulses of kingly energy expanded outward from Krynda’s body—as his reasoning was devoured completely by his anger and the wind of the Blood Moon. His power grew higher and higher; even the Alpha Primes who were holding him back were having trouble handling him.
Inside, something snapped.
Something that was fundamental for him snapped.
And the Alpha Primes realized it instantly.
“His Inner Fang… I can’t sense it anymore!”
“Krynda! You fool! Restrain yourself, call for the Great Luna’s power!”
Realizing that Krynda wasn’t responding, one of the Shamans turned and instantly moved.
He let go of the bind on Kyran and used it on Krynda instead.
Naturally, he tried to chant another Bind of Dravanya, but it took time to form the second one.
It was energy-demanding, after all.
“Are you courting death?!” the slender Alpha Prime glared at Kyran angrily. “Do you want to die?!”
“No, no, no,” Kyran shook, and then grinned. “I want all of you to die…”
Before the slender Alpha Prime could respond, a sharp crack thundered behind him, followed by a gust of wind, a violent one. His eyes widened when he realized Krynda broke free, and by the time it took for him to blink, Krynda’s claws were already buried deep in Kyran’s chest.
Savagely, Krynda hauled Kyran off the ground.
Blood burst out of Kyran’s mouth, but the smile on his face stayed.
Instead of panicking, he was actually smiling at Krynda’s attempt.
“Krynda, let him go!”
Once he snapped out of his daze, the slender Alpha Prime wanted to stop Krynda, but out of nowhere, five Werewolves reached him and held him in place. He blinked and looked at the Werewolves, realizing that it was Krynda’s betas.
“Have you all lost your minds?! Get off me!”
He roared.
But the betas held on, refusing to let go even as the slender Alpha Primes tried to claw them off.
“He killed our Luna! He deserved death!”
“We’re not going to let go!”
All of them growled, blinded by the anger, which put the slender Alpha Prime in a tough spot.
Killing Kyran would only end up badly.
However, on the other side, he understood why they were acting like this.
Seeing their Luna killed right in front of their eyes would make any Werewolfn go insane, and he could not blame them for being like this. But even so, he couldn’t let this happen, not when the entire kingdom was at stake.
On the side, Krynda bared his fangs right before Kyran.
No words came out of his mouth, only growls.
His wrath already took hold of him completely, and there was no going back.
“Good, now kill me! Kill me if you dare!” Kyran roared.
Not even hesitating, Krynda raised his kingly energy-infused claws and struck Kyran.
Aiming at the heart.
Out of nowhere, fearsome claws struck Krynda’s head before he could end Kyran with one clean stab.
Crash!
Everyone was stunned.
Blinking their eyes, they realized that it was another Alpha Prime, but this one was on the enemy side.
Mavok.
“I’m gonna have all of you stop there,” He said commandingly.
Upon hearing this, the other Alpha Primes scowled.
“A traitor, barking orders like he still has a shred of honor left.”
“Did you really come here alone? When there are five of us? You’re a fool. Explains why you’re a traitor.”
Mavok’s eyes narrowed at these comments.
“You’re fighting a meaningless war when the fight was already over,” He said in ridicule. “I’m not the foolish one. You are.”
“We still have the Honey Moon Princess, the Ice and Snow Princess, and Sven!”
“All of which would also fall if they tried to resist the empire.”
Hearing this, the slender Alpha Prime spat in contempt.
He hated Mavok the most, one of the first to be turned traitor by Prince Alaric.
“You came to your demise, Mavok. Killing you would have no consequences.” He roared menacingly.
Seeing the glowing King Mark on the slender Alpha Primes’ forehead, Mavok gets ready.
It was good that he came here to check, or else he wouldn’t have been able to be here to rescue Kyran.
Now, he needs to fight through these Alpha Primes and get Kyran out of here.
“No consequences? I think there’s no need for that.”
Right when the slender Alpha Prime was about to attack, another voice rang—this one was heavy with authority and power. So much so that all of them, Mavok, the Shamans, the five Alpha Primes, and even Kyran froze at the voice.
Though the Alpha Primes didn’t know who this voice belonged to, Mavok’s reaction was proof enough.
Light footsteps approached all of them from the side.
Slowly, all of them turned and realized who it was—the Empress, Evelyn.
Evelyn approached them with Vivian and Gistella following her on either side, looking at the mess with her calm gaze. She was in enemy territory. This situation was akin to the enemy’s general, the heart of the army, coming voluntarily to the enemy base.
But even then, none of them moved.
Though they have the power to do so, none of the five Alpha Primes tried to attack her.
Evelyn stopped a few paces away and scanned the destruction in silence.
As she did that, none of them uttered a single word—none of them even dared to breathe too loudly.
Soon, her gaze swept over the Alpha Primes, pausing on each one, then shifted to the Shamans, to the side at Mavok, and finally to Kyran, still bound and bleeding on the ground, his clothes soaked in red— in his lifeblood.
At the sight of him, her eyes narrowed, sharp as daggers.
“I saw it with my own eyes,” She began, locking her gaze on the slender Alpha Prime. “That one… he tried to kill Kyran, a dear, dear member of the Silverstar Pack. You don’t need to attack Mavok, there’s no need for that. Consequences are already coming.”
Hearing this, the slender Alpha Prime snapped out of his daze and tried to keep his composure.
“What? Are you going to kill all of us? Do you think the other Alpha Primes would accept that kind of tyranny?”
“It seems like there’s a misunderstanding here. We’re taking over your kingdom softly out of nothing more than our benevolence. I’m the one who begged the Emperor to give all of you a chance. Perhaps, from what I see here, it’s best to leave it to the Emperor. Unlike me, he’s quite eager to crush the other half of your kingdom.”
