2729 Catching Up
Lin Mu and Daoist Chu were flying towards the city while chatting when Lin Mu asked something.
"Since when did I become the honored guest of Elder Duyi and Liu Bei?" Lin Mu asked with a chuckle.
"Haha! I don't think they will mind," Daoist Chu said. "Besides, would you rather me say you are their great great great grand uncle master or something?" he asked.
"Yeah… probably not," Lin Mu agreed.
"Would be a lot more difficult to explain and believe," Daoist Chu added.
"True." Lin Mu nodded.
"So what have you been doing?" Daoist Chu asked, feeling curious. "I was surprised when I learned all that had happened. You have been quite busy," he said.
"You have no idea," Lin Mu laughed. "I explored some of the libraries and book houses. Did some shopping. Oh, and got pickpocketed," he explained.
"Pickpocketed!?" Daoist Chu was shocked. "Who could have the skill to pickpocket you? And what can they even steal?" He couldn't believe it.
"The one to pickpocket me was my disciple," Lin Mu revealed, making Daoist Chu almost fall from the sky.
"YOUR WHAT!?" Daoist Chu shouted. "What? When? How?" he shot off a bunch of questions.
"Well, he wasn't my disciple then, but I decided to take him in after seeing his skills," Lin Mu spoke.
"What skills?" Daoist Chu asked, wondering what could be so good for even Lin Mu to deem them worthy.
"His formation skills, to be exact," Lin Mu said before narrating his experience.
It took him a while to tell him everything, during which they continued to fly at a comfortable pace.
"Man, I don't know how your luck is so good," Daoist Chu was a bit envious. "That level of formation skill at his age is indeed great," he said.
"Yeah, with more training, he will be quite a good formation master," Lin Mu replied. "Besides, my master also recommended that getting a disciple will help me improve too," he added.
"Damn, he said that?" Daoist Chu was taken aback. "Guess my master was the same."
"He asked you too?" Lin Mu raised his brows.
"For a long time," Daoist Chu said. "You do know I'm an elder, right?" he asked.
"No…" Lin Mu narrowed his eyes.
"Ah, wait. Technically, I haven't received the position, but I'll be getting it officially when I'm back at the sect," Daoist Chu corrected himself. "But yeah, my master also said it was about time I start teaching some disciples."
"Have you taught before?" Lin Mu asked.
"I have, but only to the general disciples as an instructor," Daoist Chu answered. "But that is common, and a lot of senior disciples do the same," he added.
"It's still a start," Lin Mu replied.
"Yeah. Perhaps I'll pick from a few disciples once I'm back at the sect," Daoist Chu said, thinking about the potential choices. "Though I certainly want to meet this disciple of yours. Lemme see just how good his skills are," he asked.
"Sure," Lin Mu replied. "Do you want to come along?" he asked.
"Why not?" Daoist Chu said. "I have nothing left to do anyways," he added.
"Had your fill of Little Cherry?" Lin Mu smirked.
"Hahah! More than enough," Daoist Chu laughed out loud.
The two continued to converse as they flew back to the city. Once they were there, Lin Mu met up with the hostages that were being protected by Little Shrubby.
By now, they had already gone to the guards and reported their abduction. The guards were certainly very angry, and the entire regiment was currently looking into it.
Of course, once Lin Mu arrived, they were thrown into an uproar. This was, after all, the man the River Bending Axe sect was looking for.
But they didn't know that their shock was only about to get worse. They soon got to learn about the sect's condition.
They didn't believe it at first, but once the reports from the Ten Petals Company arrived, they had no choice but to believe.
Multiple guard regiments were mobilized to deal with the matter and conduct a proper investigation. The city council was also awakened in the middle of the night and learned of everything.
They, of course, tried to call Lin Mu, but he simply told them to deal with it themselves. He had enough of it all for now and didn't wish to waste his time.
There were some protests from the noble clans, of course, but the Ten Petals Company Owner showed up and silenced them all.
They were so scared that they gave Lin Mu a bunch of gifts before sending him off.
WHOOSH
"This is so much faster," Daoist Chu said as he sat upon Little Shrubby's back. "Remind me to get a mount for myself," he added.
"We can try," Lin Mu said. "But finding something as fast as Little Shrubby won't be easy."
"Damn, can't I just find someone of his species?" Daoist Chu asked. "Crown Princess Shang also wanted the same."
"Don't think it'll be possible as he's mutated quite a lot," Lin Mu stated.
"I guess I'll just have to resort to something slower," Daoist Chu said, feeling at a loss.
"Oh yeah, what does your sect specialize in?" Lin Mu realized he had never asked much about the Zenith Dao Sect.
"We specialize in everything," Daoist Chu said. "Making Formations, alchemy, farming herbs, Forging weapons, Refining immortal tools, and even beast taming," he revealed.
"Beast taming too?" Lin Mu asked with some interest.
"Yeah, we have one of the best Beast Tamers in our sect," Daoist Chu said.
"Why don't you get a beast from there then?" Lin Mu asked.
"No one is as fast as Shrubby," Daoist Chu said with a deadpan face.
"You'll have to lower your standards," Lin Mu replied, finding it hard to hold back his laughter at seeing his friend's expression.
"But yeah, the sect has everything. There's a reason we're in the top ten after all," Daoist Chu said proudly.
"I guess I'll look forward to visiting it."
