Chapter 2814: The Aftermath Of The Osteri World

Lin Mu nodded slowly, absorbing the significance of such an existence. A sentient, Transcendent Immortal plant—one older than the temple itself. It wasn't just a relic. It was a guardian, perhaps even a spiritual anchor to the Silent Lotus World.

"That's… remarkable," he murmured.

"Indeed," Daoist Chu said, stroking his beard. "A being like that… I imagine it sees time differently than we do. Perhaps it will have insights we lack."

"Will we meet it?" Meng Bai asked, his curiosity piqued. "Like, actually talk to it?"

Monk Hushu smiled. "If it wishes to communicate, it will. Though such interactions are rare. The Lotus only chooses to commune with those it finds… spiritually harmonious."

"That might exclude you, Meng Bai," Daoist Chu teased.

"Hey!" Meng Bai pouted. "I'm plenty harmonious. I only puked a few times."

"Though I have an inkling that Daoist Lin Mu would have little issue in talking to it," Monk Hushu added.

"Hmm, that might be good," Lin Mu muttered.

The group chuckled, the sound light and easy.

As they continued to chat about the matters of the Silent Lotus World, a few footsteps echoed nearby.

STEP. STEP. STEP.

Lin Mu looked toward the source, finding a small group of people walking toward them. They were dressed in the same style of robes as the other cultivators but appeared to be of higher quality, signifying their rank.

A middle-aged man led them. His gaze met Lin Mu's, and a polite smile spread across his face as he cupped his fists.

"I greet you, honored guests," the man said respectfully.

"I greet our hosts," Lin Mu replied, already guessing who this man might be.

"Prefecture Lord Shiren," Monk Hushu said, seeming to recognize the man.

"Monk Hushu?!" The man looked visibly surprised. "It was you who arrived?!"

"Amitabha, indeed. Such was the will of the Buddha," Monk Hushu responded serenely.

"I see. If you had informed us earlier, I would've been present for your arrival," Prefecture Lord Shiren said with a hint of regret.

"It is fine. We didn't know the exact time of our arrival either. Things were… complicated," Monk Hushu replied.

"Would you be willing to tell us what happened?" the Prefecture Lord asked as he took a seat, while those who had accompanied him remained standing respectfully behind.

Lin Mu took a quick measure of the man. He could sense that the Prefecture Lord was a Fifth Tribulation Stage Immortal Realm cultivator—a decently strong figure. Given that a prefecture lord's role was comparable to that of a city head, such a level made sense.

"Of course. That is what we intended to discuss. Besides, we have a few things to ask you about as well," Monk Hushu said. "But first, allow me to introduce my companions—Daoist Lin Mu and his disciple Meng Bai, as well as Daoist Chu of the Zenith Dao Sect."

"I see. I remember Daoist Chu—I believe I saw you briefly during a past visit," Prefecture Lord Shiren said with recognition.

"Yeah, I came here last time for that banquet," Daoist Chu recalled faintly.

"So, what happened?" the Prefecture Lord asked, his tone growing serious. "I heard you all came from the Osteri World? The news we received a few months ago was… concerning."

"Looks like you already know," Lin Mu said.

"At this point, the entire Immortal Realm probably knows," the Prefecture Lord replied with a heavy sigh. "Who would've imagined such atrocities were being committed right under the Immortal Court's nose?"

"It was much worse in person," Monk Hushu said grimly. "Those people were vile." A trace of anger laced his otherwise calm voice.

"When did you all manage to leave?" the Prefecture Lord asked, his curiosity genuine.

It was hard for most to determine how much time had passed while traversing teleportation channels, especially one as long and distorted as theirs.

"We escaped at the very last moment," Lin Mu answered. He then began to recount the events in detail.

He described the discovery of the Path of Faith, the sinister methods used by the clergy, and their horrifying plan to scapegoat the travelers—just as they had done many times in the past. He explained how the four Transcendent experts attempted to trap and destroy them, and how the group narrowly escaped their grasp.

As the story unfolded, Prefecture Lord Shiren's eyes widened in disbelief.

"To think… you managed to escape four Transcendent Experts," he said, astonished.

"Daoist Lin Mu held them back for us. Without him, it would not have been possible," Monk Hushu said with firm conviction.

"No, it was a combined effort. Without the help of all the travelers, none of us would have survived," Lin Mu said humbly, unwilling to take the credit alone.

The Prefecture Lord couldn't help but reassess the young man before him.

To hold off four Transcendent Experts… and bring down an entire city in the process?

The man had initially regarded Lin Mu with the respect due to a companion of Monk Hushu. But now… that regard had elevated to something nearing reverence.

"What's the aftermath?" Daoist Chu asked, breaking the silence that had crept in. "We've been in the teleportation channel for over seven months, so we're completely out of the loop. The other cultivators who escaped to Nubai should have spread the news by now."

Prefecture Lord Shiren nodded. "Indeed. Once the news broke, the Immortal Court responded immediately. They mobilized an army from their nearest base. The Nubai World and several nearby worlds under the Court's influence rallied their own forces.

"The Osteri Divine World shut down its teleportation arrays to isolate itself, but the Immortal Court responded by dispatching a direct task force. The journey took roughly two months through conventional means.

"Three Transcendent Immortal experts were sent from the Court's side, along with over three thousand elite cultivators. In addition, four Transcendent experts from allied worlds joined—each of them ruling powerhouses in their respective realms.

"Together, they launched a siege against the Osteri Divine Order. A full-scale war broke out across the continent. After several weeks of coordinated assault, the Order was dismantled. Their strongholds collapsed. The clergy who resisted were captured or executed. The world has been liberated."
