Emperor Kalos looked at Lin Fan with a strange look when he heard this.

After all, he didn’t expect Lin Fan’s plan to just be this.

Lin Fan waved his hand and said, “Clear the path.”

“Your majesty, this is just a special magic that was used on them to control them temporarily. There was still a trace of doubt in Emperor Kalos’ eyes when he heard this as he said, “Do you think that people will accept it that easily? This is basically a coup to take over the capital city. They won’t want to get involved in this matter since it’s related to the power struggle between the six factions.”

“They will have no choice. Besides, there is nothing that they can do when they see who we bring.”

“Come with us.” Lin Fan waved his hand at the royal guards and they followed his orders.

Emperor Kalos couldn’t help revealing another strange look seeing this, but he gave a nod to show that he was coming.

With the royal guards following, the two of them made their way out of the castle.

When they walked out of the castle, Emperor Kalos couldn’t help looking up at the sky.

It wasn’t that he was looking up at the barrier that was above them, but rather he was looking at the sky that was behind the barrier.

Though it was behind a barrier, it really had been a long time since he had seen the sky. It had been a long time since he had been outside the castle and was able to look up like this.

It had been since he had been turned into a hostage.

For the first time, he was tasting freedom.

Lin Fan didn’t say anything as he gave Emperor Kalos his moment.

He knew what this moment meant to him, so he didn’t want to interrupt him.

After a long silence, Emperor Kalos finally turned back to look at Lin Fan. When he did, there was a grateful look in his eyes as he said, “Thank you. I’ve almost forgotten what it was like to breathe fresh air again.”

Lin Fan suddenly bowed before saying, “Your majesty, as long as I am here, I will not allow them to subject you to that kind of humiliation again.”

“Thank you.” Emperor Kalos said in the same grateful voice as he patted Lin Fan on the shoulder.

After another moment of silence, there was a determined look that appeared in Emperor Kalos’ eyes before he said, “Now let’s go. It’s time to reclaim everything that I’ve lost to them. I’m sorry that you had to see that sorry sight.”

Lin Fan gave a simple nod before following behind Emperor Kalos.

The two of them quickly made their way to the city square.

The streets were completely empty since everyone seemed to be hiding away because of what happened.

But the closer that the two of them came to the city square, the more noise that they heard.

It seemed that there were quite a few people that had gathered in the city square.

However, it didn’t seem like there was much chaos happening in the square.

From a distance, it seemed like there was a group that was keeping the peace inside of the square. Though it also seemed like they were just doing all that they could to keep the peace.

The people were naturally agitated because of the barrier that had appeared around the city.

There were naturally those that tried to leave the city, but they turned into demonstrations. They hadn’t been killed, but that didn’t mean that they didn’t suffer any injuries at all.

After being stabilized, they had been brought in front of everyone to show what happened if they tried to attack the barrier.

And that was why there was this peace right now.

But there were dark undercurrents that were growing. There were still emotions that were bubbling and it wouldn’t be long before they exploded.

It wasn’t as if the people didn’t feel fear, it was just that they were containing themselves right now.

When Lin Fan and Emperor Kalos arrived at the square, they naturally became the center of attention.

It wasn’t because anyone recognized them, it was because they were followed by the royal guards in full armour. The armour of the royal guards was something that was easily recognized and feared, which was why everyone couldn’t help moving away from them.

It was only the city guards that came forward slowly as if they were waiting for an order.

Lin Fan waved his hand at them and a few of the captains came over tentatively.

They ignored Emperor Kalos since they didn’t even recognize him. It had been a long time since the emperor had shown his face, so most people didn’t actually know what he looked like.

“Rich? What’s going on? Why are all of the royal guards here?” The captains asked Lin Fan these questions, but he didn’t answer them.

Instead, he said, “Have your subordinates gather and calm everyone down. There’s something that needs to be announced.”

The captains from the city guards looked confused when they heard this, but they still nodded in agreement to Lin Fan’s orders.

It wasn’t because he was a part of the royal guards, it was because he was the only one that had treated them properly. As such, they felt that they could trust this person and see what was happening.

With the city guards taking control, it didn’t take long for the people to gather.

Lin Fan didn’t step forward, but gave way to Emperor Kalos.

Only Emperor Kalos didn’t step forward either.

It seemed that he was completely overwhelmed by the sight in front of him that he wasn’t able to act. It was almost as if he didn’t know what to do with the way that he just stood there.

In the end, Lin Fan asked, “Your majesty, are you alright?”

Emperor Kalos took a deep breath before saying, “I’m fine.”

Then without another word, he stepped onto the stage that had been prepared for him.

When he stepped up, everyone looked at him with confused looks since no one actually recognized who he was. But what they did recognize were the royal guards that came up behind him.

This was something that Lin Fan was responsible for.

He controlled the royal guards to go behind Emperor Kalos to give him even more prestige among the citizens.

With the royal guards behind him, the people had to take Emperor Kalos seriously.

Once he was standing on the stage, Emperor Kalos took another deep breath before saying, “I am the thirty fourth ruler of this Kalos Empire, Kalos XXIV. Today I stand before you to announce that I am here to reclaim the power that I’ve once lost.”
