Alex spent some time afterward getting rid of all the excess yang from his Soul Space. He brought it all to the Nine Yang Divine Tree, which would only continue to grow now that he had fed it even more.
For a second, he thought if he should have fed the World Tree instead. But he quickly remembered that it didn’t matter which tree got the energy, since they shared it with one another.
The two trees had created a balanced system where the Nine Yang Divine Tree produced sunlight that fed the World Tree, and the World Tree created Qi that fed the Nine Yang Divine Tree.
No matter where the energy went first, it would be shared with the other one eventually.
The trees would continue to grow surely, and as they did, the overall energy within the Demon realm would lower, but that only meant that Alex had to place more energy into it.
There were many ways of doing that.
He brought over Memory into the Demon realm and asked her to work together with Pearl and the Playground to help everyone. Memory was more than excited to help. She knew enough about alchemy and ingredients that she could help Pearl manage the plants.
Anything specific would require Alex to intervene himself, which he was ready to do.
There was one last thing Alex wanted to test before he left. Since his yellow fog was so powerful, he wished to test how it would fare against the seal around his Soul Space.
Could he use it to slowly destroy it?
Alex grew hopeful and created some yellow fog again and tried to bring it toward the seal. To bring it to the seal, he had to bring a thread of the fog out through the hole he had created and let it consume the seal.
But the fog simply refused to leave out through the hole.
Alex attempted a few more times, thinking he might have done it wrong the first time, but the result was the same. The fog simply refused to leave his Soul Space.
This wasn’t like the other times with Whisker or other larger items. This wasn’t because the hole was too small or because the thing he was trying to pull out had a space inside of it.
This was a clear inability of the fog to leave the Soul Space.
Alex only then grasped the situation. It appeared that the yellow fog could not leave his Soul Space to destroy the things that were on the outside, just like the yellow fog in his mind couldn’t leave his Spiritual Sea.
These were things that were meant to stay within his body, so it made sense why it wouldn’t leave.
Alex was a little disappointed, but there was nothing he could do about it. He was finally done with everything he needed to do in his Soul Space.
“I’m going to leave now,” Alex said. “I don’t know what will happen to the seal around me. I think it will reseal, so we may lose connection again. If it does, don’t worry. I’ll check up on you from time to time. Take care of yourselves and everyone.”
“Leave it to us, Master,” Memory said proudly.
“Take care of yourself, brother. Get out of Hell as soon as you can.”
Alex finally retracted his Spiritual sense from the hole he had created in the seal. As soon as he did, the seal grew back to seal itself.
‘It’s using up its own energy, right?’ Alex thought. ‘If I make enough holes, the seal will continue to weaken over time.’
Alex fully believed that and tested the seal again. It had fully resealed itself in just a matter of seconds, so he would have to open it once again.
Alex waited around for a moment and tested it again. The seal hadn’t lowered in strength whatsoever. ‘It’s just as painful as before,’ he thought. ‘I will probably have to damage it a lot before I see the effects.’
Alex knew he would have to break the seal open very soon. He needed to check just how his Soul Space handled itself now that he was out of its control once again. Especially, he needed to make sure the yellow fog didn’t appear and try to destroy everything.
He had taken everything important to Pearl, so it would be more or less safe for now.
‘I’ll need to get them some Sunhearts too,’ Alex thought. He had run out of the ones he had after purchasing so many things. He needed to go out to kill some more beasts and send those Sunhearts over to the Demon realm in order to counteract the growing heat in there.
‘Sunhearts can fit through, right?’ Alex thought. He saw no reason why they shouldn’t fit since they were tiny and held no space inside them. As far as he could tell, the seal did not bar things based on the energy they contained.
Whisker walked up to Alex and jumped on his shoulder. “Are they safe?” he asked.
“Yes,” Alex said, explaining what had happened. “I’ve taken care of the fog, so we shouldn’t have to worry.”
“So, will you try and make the hole bigger now?” Whisker asked.
“I have to,” Alex said. “But at the same time, I can’t completely focus on it. I did what I had to for the past four years because they were in danger, but the danger has passed. There is no urgency to get rid of the seal anymore.”
Whisker nodded with understanding. “What next?” he asked.
Alex chuckled. “Next, we find a way out of Hell,” he said. “Of course, we’re missing a few other steps in between. We’ll have to find out more. For now, I need to go back to cultivating and gathering Sunhearts. I need to buy as much Elixir as I can to improve my strength.”
“Oh, I can help with that,” Whisker said and pulled a few pill bottles in front of him.
Alex picked one up and immediately his senses could tell what was inside.
“Is this… Elixir?”
