Chapter 2150 – A’Ling

As they proceeded down the mountain path, night silently set in.

The radiant purple full moon hung beneath the dome of heaven, casting its gentle, mysterious light.

Once the Demon Crow Mountains were shrouded in purple moonlight, the roaring of beasts arose from deep within the wilderness. It was as if the beasts lying dormant within the forest were all leaving their nests at once.

From time to time, ferocious birds several tens of thousands of feet long took to the skies, beating their powerful wings. Their feathers glinted beneath the purple moonlight, and their ferocity was terrifying to behold.

Ling’er and her companions couldn’t help but look stricken, and they instinctively picked up the pace.

But Su Yi didn’t find this at all strange.

The Demon Flame Purple Moon was a manifestation of the Laws of the Billowing Blue Realm, and it represented the will of heaven.

Its purple moonlight was perfectly suited for demons and yao to cultivate with!

Thus, when night fell, yao and demons would seize every moment to refine the moonlight’s essence. They used it both to temper their bodies and advance their cultivation bases.

However, human cultivators were incapable of refining this power of the Grand Dao. If they tried, they would suffer a severe backlash! If they were lucky, they’d merely lose themselves to obsession. If they weren’t, they might well perish.

Here, even humans’ ability to cultivate was severely restricted. This was one of the primary reasons that the Billowing Blue Realm’s human cultivation factions were so weak.

In this blasted place, I’m afraid I won’t be able to treat my wounds and recover my cultivation base anytime soon… Su Yi scowled.

He actually did have a few divine recovery medicines and Undying Divine Crystals on him.

However, they were all hidden in his Sea of Chaos. That went for the Divine Replenishment Furnace, too. His cultivation base was completely dried up. He had no way of accessing those treasures without it.

In short, at least for now, he really was no different from a cripple.

Still, Su Yi was just happy that he’d survived.

He wouldn’t forget how Di E had ambushed him just as he was about to reach the God Domain.

He hadn’t even been able to react in time!

That had been the most dangerous, lethal ambush he’d faced in all his years of cultivation in this incarnation.

Still, he’d survived!

Yi Daoxuan’s Dao Imprint had, at a critical juncture, activated the Sword of the Nine Hells to carry Su Yi through time and space and flee into the God Domain!

Something suddenly occurred to Su Yi. Yi Daoxuan could have sent me anywhere, but he sent me to the Billowing Blue Realm of all places. I’m sure there’s a reason for it.

But when he tried to remember why, he felt a rending pain and deep exhaustion in his soul, and he decisively gave up.

His soul was just too badly injured, and its power was on the verge of exhaustion.

Forget it. I’ll just have to take things one step at a time. Once I’ve recovered a little, I’ll naturally understand why Yi Daoxuan chose to send me to the Billowing Blue Realm, thought Su Yi.

On his way to the God Domain, Yi Daoxuan told him that there was an ancient spacetime node sealed in his Dao Imprint, one no one else knew about.

His enemies had no hope of locating it.

There was no doubt about it. The spacetime node Yi Daoxuan spoke of led to the Billowing Blue Realm’s Demon Crow Mountains!

Su Yi couldn’t help but suspect that Yi Daoxuan had left something in the area.

“We’re here!” someone said.

The foot of the mountain was pitch-black. Dark clouds obscured most of the purple moonlight.

The group had forged through the darkness with glowing moonstones for torches, but now, they saw numerous lanterns alight in the distance.

They were extraordinarily reassuring beneath the cover of darkness.

This was a village of numerous crude stone huts.

Su Yi had listened in on the group’s conversation along the way, so he knew that this was Grassy Creek Village, one of several dozen villages at the foot of the Demon Crow Mountains.

This was A’Ling and the other youths’ home.

A’Ling carried Su Yi back to her home, and the other youths scattered.

A’Ling lived in a crude little residence with a tiny courtyard. Its three rooms were made entirely out of stone, and its walls were hewn out of boulders. Numerous beast skins hung to dry in the courtyard, and the ground was piled high with tanned hides, medicinal herbs, and other such goods.

Her residence was so crude that Su Yi almost felt as if he’d returned to the wilderness of the mortal world.

However, the courtyard was clean and well-organized.

A’Ling set Su Yi up in one of the three rooms.

“Lie here for now,” said A’Ling. She turned and left, then came back with a basin of water and a cloth.

“I’m going to clean you, then apply spirit medicine,” said A’Ling. She’d already gotten to work.

Su Yi was lying there, unable to move. He had no choice but to let her.

The young woman’s beautiful face and sparkling eyes shone beneath the lamplight as she attended to his wounds with the utmost focus. She wasn’t the least bit disgusted.

It had been a long time since Su Yi had been cared for like this, and he felt a bit strange.

“What the heck happened to you? How could your wounds possibly be this bad?”

A’Ling was quite startled. Now that she could see Su Yi’s wounds clearly, she couldn’t even imagine how he was still alive.

But before Su Yi could answer, A’Ling dashed out of the room. When she returned, she was carrying a dozen or so medicine bottles. Soon, she’d started smearing their contents all over Su Yi.

Spirit medicines of this level would do nothing for Su Yi’s wounds whatsoever, but he didn’t stop her. He just lay there quietly, watching the young woman tend to him. His heart felt extraordinarily tranquil.

He’d spent the past few years exploring the River of Epochs. He’d fought in the Kingdom of Lasting Light and undergone trials in the Path of the Ancient Gods…

He’d overcome so much strife and turmoil and killed so many enemies that he’d lost track.

Even his journey to the God Domain had been fraught with peril.

Now, he’d suddenly been reduced to a cripple and found himself in a remote village. It was as if he’d suddenly left all worldly strife, enmities, and benevolences behind him.

This let Su Yi thoroughly relax and enjoy calm and tranquility for the first time in a long time.

The skies over the courtyard were pitch-black, and silent save for the chirping of crickets and the occasional gust of wind rattling the curtains.

Inside Su Yi’s room, a dim lamp cast away the darkness, creating a warm atmosphere.

When A’Ling finally finished her work, she wiped the sweat from her brow and plopped onto the floor not far away. “Hey! Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Her eyes were bright and shiny as she gazed curiously at Su Yi.

“I…” Su Yi opened his mouth to speak, but his voice was feeble.

“It’s fine. I can tell that even speaking is difficult for you now,” A’Ling said with a wave. “My name is Yang Ling’er. My father went hunting in the mountains several years ago and was killed by beasts. My mother was so overcome with grief at his death that she fell ill and died shortly after, so the village elder brought me up.”

“Mm,” said Su Yi.

A’Ling continued, “I’m the one who saved you, so there’s no way the elder will kick you out. Still, it’s against the rules to bring outsiders of unknown origins back to the village, so you’ll have to leave as soon as you’ve recovered.”

“I don’t expect you to repay me. After all, we’re both human, and we humans ought to look out for each other.

“That said…” Here, A’Ling’s eyes suddenly glinted with sharp light, and she glared ruthlessly at Su Yi. “If you’re here with ill intentions, I’ll be the first in line to punish you!”

Su Yi couldn’t help but find this entertaining. Still, he grunted in acknowledgment.

“Actually, I feel like you and I are quite connected by fate. While I was out hunting, I suddenly felt this inexplicable resonance in my heart. I actually thought some grand stroke of good fortune had fallen into my lap,” A’Ling said chipperly. “Who’d have thought that I’d find you instead? Isn’t that quite interesting?”

She couldn’t help but laugh. Her beautiful face was particularly adorable beneath the lamplight.

Su Yi, however, was stunned, then thoughtful. He only now realized that it wasn’t a coincidence that A’Ling had found him!!

Yi Daoxuan had sent him to the Billowing Blue Realm’s Demon Crow Mountains for no apparent reason, and he’d been lying there unconscious for who knows how long.

Yet today, A’Ling had been inexplicably drawn right to him while she was out hunting…

How could that possibly be a coincidence?

There had to be secrets behind it all!!

The thought made Su Yi sigh. I’m sure I could grasp the mysteries behind this with ease if I could access my cultivation base. Unfortunately, in this state, there’s absolutely no way.

Suddenly, he heard footsteps from beyond the courtyard.

“A’Ling, the village headman and the elder are here!” said that tall, stalwart youth. Su Yi remembered that his name was Xue Feng, and that he’d been opposed to Su Yi’s presence the whole way back.

Su Yi didn’t even need to think to know that Xue Feng must have told the elder and village headman that A’Ling had saved him.

“What are the elder and village headman doing here?” A’Ling jumped to her feet, visibly nervous, but she still took a moment to comfort Su Yi. “Don’t be afraid. The elder and village headman are both good people. They won’t hurt you.”

She’d only just said this when the door opened, and a group of people walked inside.

The leader of the group was a tall, powerfully built man in gray robes.

He was accompanied by a thin old man in beast skin robes.

The former was the leader of Grassy Creek Village, Xue Tianyun, while the latter was its elder, Li Changqing.

Several other prominent members of the village trailed in after them, including Xue Feng.

As soon as they’d entered the room, all eyes were instantly on Su Yi. The atmosphere was suddenly tense.

“Elder, I…” A’Ling opened her mouth to explain, only for Li Changqing to shake his head.

“A’Ling, we already know what happened. Don’t worry. We’re here to figure out who this outsider is, not to hurt him.”

He’d only just said this when Village Headman Xue Tianyun walked over, his eyes flashing like lightning as he gazed down at Su Yi and said, “There’s no need for you to say anything. All you need to do is cooperate and let the village headman confirm your identity.”

Su Yi’s brow furrowed.

“What? You aren’t willing to cooperate?” Xue Tianyun’s imposing gaze instantly frosted over.

Su Yi glanced at A’Ling, and when he saw the worry on her brow, he said, “Very well.”

The crowd visibly sighed in relief. They’d obviously been alert and on guard for fear that Su Yi was someone suspicious, and if so, that he’d refuse to cooperate!

Elder Li Changqing promptly walked over, clasped his fist in greeting, and said, “My apologies.”

Boom!

His vital energy rumbled and boomed as his hands formed a seal. Then, he gently placed his palm on Su Yi’s forehead.

The moment he saw this technique, a strange light flashed through Su Yi’s eyes.
