GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2151 - 2151: Admitting Defeat.

Currently, four of them were fidgeting and were clearly nervous. So all of them, except their boss, were nervous about what they wanted to do. It showed in their body language and was even more clear to see in their minds.

Of the four of them, Amelia was afraid and felt guilty too. The other three were just nervous that their plan would be exposed and were afraid of the consequences. They didn’t feel guilty at all.

Their boss was made of thicker stuff physically and mentally. He was ready to take a large risk in order to acquire freedom. He didn’t feel nervous or guilty.

In fact, he was ready for their scheme to be exposed immediately, and he was ready to bear the consequences of that exposure.

But to prevent betrayal among them, their boss insisted that they all live in the same room for a few days until they gain their freedom. That way, they could keep an eye on each other and prevent one of them from exposing the others.

Legion found the whole thing to be cute. Of course, they thought it was cute because they were amused. It still doesn’t change the fact that their slaves almost became free from them and would have caused endless trouble for them if they became free.

So punishment had to be delivered immediately. They activated the mark of consciousness in the minds of the four traitors and cranked up the pain to the limit.

While the four of them fell to the floor and cried and wet themselves or spasmed in shock, Legion began to wonder about a bigger question.

Legion-9 asked the others, “Who is this person who wants to free them? What pathway do they belong to?”

Legion-6 said, “I guess there is only one way to find out.”

They proceeded to question Amelia about their would-be savior. They asked Amelia because she was the most likely to speak the truth to them and because she was the only one who could form a coherent thought currently.

In the past, they needed to be nearby to hear the reply of their slaves when communicating with them, but now they could just read their minds regardless of the distance.

So they told Amelia to only think of the answer to their question in her mind instead of saying it out loud. She complied, but it was still difficult for her to settle her mind because of recent events.

The sight of the other four writhing on the ground in pain filled her with a profound sense of relief. But deep down, there was also the realization that she was never going to be free. These two feelings occupied her mind and polluted the answers that she gave them.

When they were done questioning her about what she knew, they learned that the person they reached out to for help was the fate weaver that Black Knife wanted to use to help find the source of the supply of the energy water of the vault of gold.

The fate weaver was a woman. Even though she couldn’t help them directly, she promised to bring someone who could help them.

In order to get more information, Legion asked Black Knife for more information. By the time they were done questioning Amelia, they had stopped torturing the other four. After all, they still had a use for the four of them and didn’t want to break their minds yet.

So Black Knife could speak to them now. He told them everything he knew as they asked him. He didn’t hold back any information or play any tricks about it.

It wasn’t that he wanted to please them. He had just given up.

He was already mentally prepared for defeat and punishment. Now that it had happened, it wasn’t unexpected, but it crushed his hope for freedom.

His defeat made him resign himself to his fate. At least, for now. He might raise up the flag of rebellion in the future if the opportunity presents itself.

Legion-3 said to him snidely, “You have accepted your defeat. How honorable of you.”

Black Knife didn’t say anything. He simply picked himself up and dusted himself off. Then he sat back down on his seat as if nothing had happened.

Apparently, this woman had reached out to Black Knife about their previous plan. Black Knife took the risk to tell her that he had been forced to give up on that plan by someone who could make him feel pain.

Black Knife had suspicions that Legion was a slaver, but he wasn’t sure because the way Legion enslaved them was not normal.

There was also no mark of bondage on their bodies. The only thing he could grasp was that they felt pain, and slavers do that to people.

He suspected that if they were slavers, they had to be rank 4 since he didn’t see how he was enslaved and because Legion managed to enslave all five of them. That isn’t something an ordinary Slvaer could do.

Besides, he was rank 3. He would like to believe that it would take a rank 4 slaver to enslave him.

He told all of these to the fate weaver. The fate weaver used all of this information to deduce the identity of their slaver but failed.

She couldn’t discern anything about them. So she tried to find out what exactly was wrong with Black Knife and the others.

She used her ability to figure out that they were truly enslaved. She couldn’t free Black Knife, but she promised to find help.

Black Knife initially kept the whole thing a secret to himself. He didn’t want to expose that he was trying to escape to the others. After all, the best way to keep a secret was to make it known to the fewest possible people.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t keep this secret because the traveler got a whiff of good fortune from him. It was all due to the rank 2 divine ability of the pathway of traveling, Seeking Danger And Fortune.
