Chapter 2215: Operation Dreaded Winter -Part 7In order to bring this message to the frontlines, he had pushed through all day and night in the lightest possible manner to get the message out the fastest. When he finally gave the envelope to the king, all the messenger could do was to let out a smile and fainted.
The servants for the King of Ends quickly tried to wake up him but when they found that he had no pulse, the King sighed for a moment while taking in the bad news. "So…the Ress was right all along?" He thought to himself and wondered if this was a plot by Ress.
After all, they were a bunch of Mages and he would not deny the fact that they might actually be colluding with the enemy or aiding with the summoning of the demons. But all of those thoughts did not matter at all when the enemy was already at the gates.
"I assume he did not send any other letters to the other lords or people of importance?" The King Of Ends asked and the servants believed that was not the case at all.
"He had been granted special access through the gates because of the Special Tier Southern Kingdoms Crest he had been wearing on his body. It is from the Kingdom of Trin, located at the southern most tip of the continent."
"I know my geography." The King of Ends usually does not rebut but the news that was presented to him was more than urgent. Even though he had the information at hand, he felt that it would be stupid of him to release troops to help save the demons that had invaded the kingdom ports.
After all, even if the troops were to move to the south, it would still take at least two to three weeks to reach there. And that is assuming that the soldiers moving south would not encounter any sudden snowstorms. If they did, the troops moving downwards would be trapped by the blizzards and there was nothing they could do but to hold off the march until the storms had subsided.
Not to mention, he did not understand how big the Demon Hordes were since the messenger had died right in front of him from exhaustion which he believed he was racing through the entire southern continent to ensure that he could get the message across before any major snowfall. Also, if he allowed the soldiers from various Southern Kingdoms to return to their former places, that also meant that he had fewer troops to fight against Ress which was still a wild card at it. While there were no signs of scouts, no tripping from the long range magic sensors the fact that Ress still stands is a burdensome threat to him.
The King of Ends still remembered the pain of losing entire legions of troops to Ress in a single week. The messenger painted such a horrifying picture that he was actually more afraid of Ress coming in from the North rather than the Demons invading from the South. It was then he asked one of the servants to call his General in.
"Yes, My King?" The General came in hastily, assuming that the call was for him with regards to the desperate messenger that came just moments ago. But instead of telling him what to do from a distance, the King beckoned his general to come forward as he needed to tell him urgently in a private manner.
The General in a polite way leaned towards the King to the side and listened to his requests. His eyebrows furrowed from the unexpected order that the King had whispered to him and asked if he was sure. After all, this was something that would involve lives at stake.
"Yes. Please get it done." The King said and the General took a step back to perform a formal bow before departing out of the hall. It was only minutes after that that the General returned with a group of soldiers surrounding the servants who were in the Royal Throne Hall with the King.
What's more, the soldiers started to push the servants to the ground, forcing them to kneel in front of the King and all of them were asking what was happening. It was then they realised that they happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time when the messenger came.
"Please spare us! I did not hear anything at all! I was dozing off while the messenger talked to you!" One of the servants said and the other servants finally realised what going to happen. They started to plead for their lives but on the other hand, they also understood that their pleas would be useless when the King had already felt that it was necessary to remove them from the equation.
The general knew that this was senseless killing and imprisoning them would do the job equally the same. However, he had no idea what had happened and the content of the message. All he derived from this is that the content of the message is too sensitive for even the servants to hear and maybe for himself as well.
He knew from that instant that ignorance is bliss and that there was no need to ask the King what had actually happened.
Despite the desperate pleas of his servants with one of them even serving the King of Ends for at least twenty years, he closed his eyes and nodded to the General. The latter sighed at the order and with a deep breath, he shouted that one command to give the permission for the soldiers to perform their job to eliminate the so called 'threats'.
"FUCK YO-" The blood splattered on the Royal Hall floors while their heads rolled down the stained carpets, knowing that there was nothing they could have done to escape from this situation.
"You bloody no balls bastard. I curse you and the rest of the kingdoms to die. To lose miserably to Ress and hope our enemy will liberate us from the cruelty that had been accrued." The remaining servant and the one and only servant which had served his entire life for the King, cursed him. Cursed him with all his might before the axe sliced through his neck, causing him to lose his life.
