Naela could only sigh as her words received a different outcome than she wanted.

Hearing that he was becoming more like Rex made Kyran more excited—adrenaline coursed through his bloodstream. Coupled with the fact that he had gotten stronger from the dream, his confidence was through the roof.

Kyran was eager to test out his new ability

He gazed at the mutated lizard with battle intent behind his eyes.

"If you don't want to fight, stay here, this is going to be rough!"

Upon saying that, Kyran, in his Werewolf form, sprinted ahead, creating a booming sound.

Seeing this, Naela rolled her eyes, "How can you expect me to watch if you're that eager?"

Given no other choice, she also chased after Kyran to support him.

Crash!

Expecting the two intruders to respect its territory, with the warning attack earlier, and leave, the mutated lizard had already turned to return back to its nest and consolidate its newfound power.

But it was caught off guard when something crashed against it from behind.

It brought along a powerful enough force to knock the mutated lizard forward.

Pivoting around to see who dared to attack it, the mutated lizard met Kyran's vigorous gaze.

"Where are you going? I'm not done with you!" He taunted loudly.

Roar!!

Furious at the puny creature that dared to taunt it, the mutated lizard's armored scales—got up, erected, turning into sharp spikes that would hurt anyone. who tried to attack it. Roaring with might, it rushed towards Kyran.

Its massive body shakes the ground with each stomp.

Kyran stood his ground as the mutated lizard's tail, ending with a ball of spike, struck him.

Reacting as quickly as the wind, thick hot ice rose from the ground and protected him.

But one strike is all it takes for it to shatter, forcing Kyran to move.

'It's strong,'

He thought, sprinting to the side with his eyes locked onto the mutated lizard.

'One hit from that tail and I'll be squashed definitely.'

Kyran leaped to the sky and using his moonlight energy, summoned four ice spikes from the ground to impale the mutated lizard. But he witnessed the ice spikes that were as thick as a pillar shattered upon touching the mutated lizard's armor.

None of the ice spikes left even a dent in the mutated lizard.

Unwavering, Kyran descends down, aiming directly to clash with the mutated lizard.

In response to Kyran's reckless assault—the mutated lizard turned into a ball and like a literal porcupine, using its thick and spiky back to protect itself from harm's way. Kyran treated this move as nothing and struck.

His claws which exerted blue liquid, sliced through the air like a meteor.

A savage downswing that backed every ounce of strength his muscles could produce.

Clang!!

'Krgghkk! It's hard! And striking it hurts me instead!'

Gritting his teeth, Kyran's pupils dilated, seeing the armored scales pointed at him suddenly.

Realizing what was the mutated lizard about to do, he somersaulted away.

He dodged right in time as a barrage of obsidian spikes fired from the mutated lizard's back.

Landing on the ground gracefully—Kyran raised his four eyes and saw a dent was marked on the mutated lizard's back as it came out from the ball again. Nodding his head, he began—to move, capitalizing on his nimble movement against the mutated lizard's sluggish movement.

It has a perception higher than Kyran and should be very agile.

But with its massive body, Kyran, who was of lower rank was able to get around it fast.

He chipped down attacks whenever he could, aiming at the mark on its back.

Crack!

Making a diving thrust from above, Kyran managed to crack the back armor.

A visible crack that would crack open with another attack.

Kyran learned an innate ability from his bloodline when he went to sleep days ago.

It allowed his claws to secrete corrosive substance—increasing his penetrating power.

Once it gets into the blood, the substance is also poisonous.

No matter how strong his enemy was, if enough of it got into their bloodstream, it was over.

Realizing what Kyran was doing, the mutated lizard's eyes turned and swiped its tail.

Kyran, once again, was able to dodge the attack in time.

He tried to do the same thing again but it was way harder now to do than before.

'It puts its guard up, I need to be creative...'

Even though using his dark elements would help him a lot, it wouldn't work.

His dark element is not strong enough to influence the mutated lizard of the higher rank.

Slamming his claws into the ground—Kyran summoned multiple ice spikes that blocked the mutated lizard's charge. And then, more ice spikes appeared, and trapped it in its place, he was trying to bar it in its place, setting up for an attack from its blind spot.

Roar!!

Kyran was pushed back when the mutated lizard roared, shattering the ice pillars.

Just then, Kyran saw its murderous gaze locked onto him.

Shaping into a ball again, the obsidian spikes on its back became longer, and sharper as the mutated lizard rolled like a ball. It happened so fast that Kyran was caught off guard, it went from zero to blinding fast in the blink of an eye.

In a blink, he saw the massive ball of spikes was already right in front of him.

So big that he was completely covered in its shadow.

Out of nowhere, something grabbed his arm and yanked him out of the way.

Swoosh!

Kyran rolled to the side and recovered before realizing that it was Naela.

He looked to the side and found that it was a dark vine that saved him from behind hit.

It was a vine that was covered by obsidian.

Realizing this, Kyran looked down at his hand and found that it was bleeding profusely.

He then turned to Naela at the far distance, showing her his bleeding hand.

"I can't help it! Even the vines inside this dominion are covered in obsidian!" She shouted.

Sighing lightly, Kyran saw the mutated animal already turned around and fired multiple spikes directly at Naela. Bending down—his muscles bulged as he dashed straight at Naela. He was able to reach her right in time.

Using his claws, he parried the spikes, protecting Naela who took cover behind him.

Amidst doing this, however, Kyran's senses prompted him to look down.

In reflex, he grabbed Naela's clothes and threw her up to the air.

He did it before the ground exploded with thousands of obsidian spikes, with varying length, and some of them even managed to impale him through, lifting him up from the ground—and onto the sky.

Kyran vomited a disturbing amount of blood, hissing in pain.

Since the spikes were jagged, being pierced by them was incredibly painful.

Relentless, the mutated lizard didn't stop there and fired a massive obsidian fragment—into the sky. It then shattered into a million pieces, before raining down on them, taking up miles in radius.

Naela's pupils dilated in fear—the fragments of obsidian darkened the sky.

Almost as if his body was reacting instinctively, Kyran felt a surge of power inside of him and made his move. He fixed his eyes on Neala, broke the thick obsidian spike stabbing his belly, and blasted toward Naela.

Despite his bleeding stomach, he hugged Naela and used his body as a shield.

"Kaarghkk!"

Crash!

Of course, he used his icy prowess to protect his back but the fragments pierced through.

Before landing on the ground, he turned his body once again.

Since the ground was full of spikes—he feared that Naela would be hurt by them.

Fortunately, Naela was quick to react and cast Nature's Cushion, softening his landing.

Even so, the spikes that were already stabbing Kyran's back forced a grunt out of his mouth when his back, crashed onto the cushion. Kyran blinked his eyes open, and was greeted, by the sight of Naela above him.

Briefly, their eyes met, and their hearts beat in the same rapid rhythm.

'What am I doing...?' He thought—confusion surging through his mind.

Realizing what he had done, he couldn't help but be perplexed.

Kyran's body moved on his own earlier upon seeing Naela's fearful expression.

Even the thought of seeing Naela get hurt made his chest feel tight, it was very unpleasant.

'All those years in the ice realm, I firmed that I would dedicate myself to Rex and those close to him. I care nobody but him so why...? Why did I save her and put myself in danger?' Kyran thought, his mind racing with a question.

Ever since the betrayal he suffered from Lisa, getting close to a woman became hard.

It was one of the reasons why he decided to dedicate himself for Rex.

Going through another betrayal would be too painful for him.

Maybe because of that, he tried his best to not put Naela in his eyes no matter what.

But that slowly began to change.

'Do I care about her...? Maybe, I don't know' He thought inwardly. 'Ah, the thought—of Naela getting hurt is tightening up my chest. Is... Is this what Rex felt whenever Adhara, Evelyn, or Gistella gets hurt?'

On the other hand, Naela was also fixed on Kyran's eyes.

She knew that she basically forced herself to be with Kyran, so now that he was becoming a slight burden, she was ashamed. However, the air and tension coming from Kyran, it was not displeasure, it was something else.

Even though she expected Kyran to be angry at her and even let her get hit, he didn't.

Instead, he saved her multiple times.

Naturally, such a thought turned her face rosy like a tomato.

But Kyran suddenly shrugged her to the side and sat up, groaning in absolute pain.

His back was riddled with obsidian fragments and holes, blood coated his back's entirety.

However, his regeneration was nothing to scoff at, as his back began to steam hard, and the fragments fell off one by one as well as the holes, closing up rapidly. Standing up—he gazed into the distance and saw the mutated lizard prowling angrily.

Despite having the chance to finish Kyran off during his moment with Naela earlier, it didn't.

Instead, it strode left and right, stomping the ground—a taunting aggression.

Kyran looked at this and smirked savagely.

"Are you ready for round 2, Naela?"

"You're still up for more? Don't you have enough already? It's too strong"

"I cracked its shell. One more strike, and we would've won. Since the obsidian, coated your— dark vines, I think it would work well against that thing. Use your vines to wrap around it, and let me do the finishing blow"

"Fine... I'll use my spell on you"

Flick!

Naela flicked her fingers and elongated Kyran's ears using her dark nature energy.

Seeing this, Kyran raised an eyebrow questioningly.

"As long as your ears are like that, you can command my dark vines. I'll help from behind"

"Okay, that's good"

Kyran fixed his eyes back on the mutated lizard and cracked his neck.

He then bent his knees, activating his leg muscles before he blasted ahead like a bullet.

Landing on the ground, Kyran maneuvered around the obsidian spikes—while his eyes were fixed on the mutated lizard. He swiveled left and right before two vines burst from the earth and coiled ahead like snakes on either side of his.

Planting his feet firmly, he moved even faster.

Ice shields manifested and rotated around him, preparing for the upcoming clash.

Upon nearing the mutated lizard, he made a powerful leap with his claws ready.

He felt the wind rushed against him as his senses heightened for the battle.

Roar!!

Not backing down, the mutated animal roared powerfully.

Just then, however, Kyran's eyes darted to the right when he sensed something powerful.

He was briefed earlier, that the Order Beasts at the Knight rank are living a secluded life from the fear of other, stronger Order Beasts, infiltrating their dominion and disrupting their peace and source of power.

Due to that, most of them avoid a direct confrontation.

Sculpting their beast core to an order core was already a considerable feat.

And the one thing they hated the most was to die before even tasting their full strength.

Kyran knew that but because of the heat of the battle, he didn't think of that.

His eyes widened seeing an approaching light that encroached on both him and the lizard.

"Holy shit!!"

Kaboom!!
