THE LAST PARAGON IN THE APOCALYPSE
Chapter 653 - 653: Do You Believe In DestinyThe Wind Reaper.
That was the name the Uno-Eye Assassin Guild gave to Axel, who tried to kill Fruity three times but ultimately became his sworn brother.
Back then, Fruity had just finished destroying the Ice Nation, but it seemed some people never accepted their loss, so they hired one of the most dangerous assassin guilds to handle him.
The Wind Reaper was the one sent after him.
Klaus had to give it to them; they, indeed, were worthy of being called an assassin guild, for they had carried out some famous assassinations that left galaxies shaken to the core.
But now, sitting under a pavilion with his expression calm but deep in thought, is Mason, Axel’s incarnation in this life.
“My dad once said a young man who does a lot of thinking will remain single forever,” Klaus said, snapping out Mason, who hadn’t even realized someone had appeared beside him of his daze.
“Klaus,” he said, not knowing whether to be scared or confused. His expression was shifting in so many ways that Klaus nearly broke into resounding laughter.
“You look funny. Relax, I won’t eat you,” Klaus said, sitting across from him and crossing his legs while his right hand supported his chin.
Mason stared at him, confused.
“Why did you ask me to join your faction?” he asked.
Before Klaus appeared, his mind had been on many things, and one of them was why Klaus’s faction had recruited him.
As far as he knew, he was his enemy, so why then would he ask Lucy to come recruit him? That just doesn’t make any sense.
“Before I answer that, why don’t you tell me what you were thinking about when I got here,” Klaus said, looking closely at him.
He could tell something wasn’t right with him, so he wanted to know why.
“It’s nothing to worry about,” Mason said, but Klaus didn’t let him get away with it. Mason was clearly bothered by something, so he pressed, and in the end, Mason decided to come clean.
“It’s my family. After I broke up with Madison, they disowned me, but now that you have destroyed the Southern Union Legacy Family, they are asking me to come home so they can make amends.”
“It seems they just want to make amends, so why overthink it?” Klaus asked. Though they were dicks for disowning him, they are still family.
“I just don’t feel like going back there again. They were the ones who made me start the whole relationship with the Legacy Family in the first place, and now, I think they want that again, but I don’t want to,” Mason said.
“So they’re that kind of family, huh? I guess you don’t have to overthink it. You’ve done enough for them already, so why don’t you live for yourself from here onwards?” Klaus understood the kind of family Mason was in.
The gold-digger family.
When you are important to them, they will worship you, but the moment you are no longer of any use to them, they will toss you aside.
He had seen thousands of those missions in his life as Fruity, so he knew just what Mason was going through.
‘Some things never change. His family back then was the same. They abandoned him when that demon prince crippled him. Good thing he accidentally inherited the legacy of the Wind Demon King. I wouldn’t have met a terrifying warrior like him otherwise.’
Klaus smiled.
“Mason, do you believe in destiny?” he asked, causing Mason to look at him weirdly.
“Everyone has their destiny, that much I know, but asking whether I believe in that… I don’t think I can answer such a question,” Mason answered, making Klaus smile.
“Then I will ask again. Do you believe me if I were to tell you we were once the best of brothers who fought and watched each other’s backs? Would you believe me if I were to tell you that the current you are not the real you?
Would you believe me if I were to tell you that you haven’t even tapped into 5% of your true potential? Would you believe me if I were to tell you the current you should be going toe to toe with Overlords?”
Klaus asked, and for a moment, Mason blanked out. But when his reason returned, and he replayed the questions, he turned and looked at Klaus, but he couldn’t say anything.
“I wouldn’t say anything now. All I can tell you is to spend more time with Lucy and Anna. In fact, go look for them, for from now onwards, you and I are brothers.
Of course, I know a part of you still hates me, but I don’t really care. You are a man, so man up and accept reality.
In the coming days, you will start to understand what I am talking about.”
Klaus stood up and walked away, leaving Mason to ponder on what he had just said. It all sounded gibberish to him, but one had to admit: Klaus also knows how to offload on people.
But that had to be said.
Right now, he wasn’t concerned about Karma.
He wanted to make use of his memories, and since he could remember Anna, Lucy, Mason, and Queenie so far, he would make use of that for now.
Mason, or Axel, was one of the finest warriors Klaus had fought with in the past.
They fought in hundreds of battles, and at every turn, Mason was like the wind, killing with silent yet chilling efficiency.
He was known as the Wind Reaper for a reason.
Right now, something akin to a seed had been planted, and with the keys of reincarnation in his possession, he would be able to start his recovery the moment he awakened his bloodline.
Mason stayed under the pavilion for an hour before going to look for Anna and Lucy.
They were friends and teammates back in Klaus’s fourth incarnation, so the chances of them becoming familiar again were very high.

Klaus, on the other hand, made his way toward the Dean’s residence. It was time for him to meet his Uncle Monk he missed so much.
